    This course offers a comprehensive exploration of,both Wheelthrown and Handbuilt techniques,in ceramics, focusing on the creation of,functional vessels. Students will work with,Wheelthrowing and,handbuilding methods to produce altered and unique,forms. Emphasizing design principles such as,form, proportion, and surface treatment, students,will learn to create functional pieces that,effectively,balance aesthetics and usability.

  • DCE-206 ARCHITECTURAL CERAMICS

    This course emphasizes ceramic design techniques,for wall installations and mounting methods,,with a special focus on bas relief, carving,techniques,surface design, printing on ceramics,,and tile,making. Students will research and apply practices,related to ceramic tiles, murals, and,architectural,embellishments commonly found in public spaces.,They will explore modular layouts, integrate,design,elements into their work, and refine their,techniques in creating and firing ceramic pieces.,By mastering,both surface treatments and installation methods,,students will develop the skills necessary to,create,impactful ceramic pieces for a variety of,environments.

  • DCE-216 CERAMIC CHEMISTRY: CLAY GLAZE & FIRING,In Ceramics

    This course explores the chemistry of ceramics,,equipping students with a fundamental,understanding of materials and processes in,ceramic production. Students will learn to mix,slips, clays,,and glazes, gaining hands-on experience in,creating their own formulations. The curriculum,will cover,the properties and behaviors of various ceramic,materials and alternative firing techniques,,broadening,creative possibilities. By the end of the course,,students will gain greater autonomy in their,ceramic,practice, empowered to create tailored materials,that reflect their artistic vision.

    In the advanced Wheelthrowing course, students are,encouraged to cultivate their distinct,artistic voice while refining their skills on the,wheel. Participants will enhance their technical,and,conceptual abilities by exploring alternative and,advanced techniques for altering, firing, and,glazing,their ceramic pieces. Additionally, students will,research and apply contemporary practices and,theories,related to Wheelthrowing, integrating this,knowledge into their creative process.

  • DDG-103 RAPID PROTOTYPING FOR STUDIO ARTS

    In this course students gain experience with rapid,prototyping and digital fabrication tools,including but not limited to laser cutting, FFF,(Fused Filament Fabrication) 3D printing, and CNC,machining. The course demonstrates how to utilize,software such as Illustrator and Rhino to create,unique design that can be quickly and efficiently,output onto various tools. Students explore the,application of the digital fabrication tools and,the benefits of rapid prototyping in their,practice.
