  • DMA-500 GLOBAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE

    (This is a faculty led study abroad course *,syllabi will differ per destination) ,,On a Global Learning Experience course, students,are brought outside the typical classroom, for a,24/7 learning experience in varying locations,outside the USA. The course will provide students,with tools for analyzing your learning process and,identifying cultural patterns, differences,,similarities and values encountered during the,journey. Students develop a sense of,cross-cultural understanding, and navigate towards,becoming a global citizen. Students develop a,heightened sense of confidence, and leadership as,they plan, and execute this excursion. In,addition students discover the role of becoming an,ambassador for their own culture. Practical issues,about studying abroad (safety, money, packing,,etc.) are delivered via pre-departure sessions,with the International Student Services Office.,

    ,Art and Design in Japan,
    ,In this Faculty-Led study abroad program, students,will travel around Japan and see the sights that,Tokyo, Mount Fuji, and Kyoto have to offer. The,program will expose students to many aspects of,Japanese culture such as tea ceremonies, kyo-mai,dance, temples, and the art and design that embody,Japan. Students will also visit museums including,the Tokyo National Museum which holds the largest,collection of art in the country. This program,will serve as a great experiential learning,opportunity to explore more about art and design,in another culture.

  • DPH-251 LIGHTING II

    This course continues the development of,controlled lighting techniques both in the studio,and on location.,Building on skills from Lighting I, students learn,more detailed processes of professional practice,,including,preproduction, deliverables, and sophisticated,logistics to elevate their work and professional,practice. Students,perfect camera techniques and utilize digital,post-production to enhance images made in camera.,Emphasis is on,achieving a high level of technical, aesthetic and,conceptual excellence.

  • DPH-214 COLOR & OUTPUT

    This course introduces students to theories of,color from historical applications to contemporary,photography, and its practical and creative,applications. Through readings, lectures, and,discussions the history of color theory and color,photography are addressed, including subjective,color, bias, and equity in image-making.,Assignments emphasize principles of color theory,through digital input, color balance and,correction, creative color, and effective digital,printing.

  • DPH-211 LIGHTING I

    This course addresses the fundamentals of,photography within a controlled lighting context,including aesthetic, technical, and creative,problem-solving strategies. Students gain,practical, hands-on experience through studying,the history of applied and fine art photography,,lectures, demonstrations, assignments, and,critiques.

  • DPH-210 PHOTOGRAPHIC CONCEPTS

    This course introduces long-form image-making,strategies and concepts that derive from a,perspective of critical observation and research.,It is designed to develop students’ language,around images, deepening their understanding of,issues and ideas surrounding photography in both,contemporary and historical contexts. Research is ,supported through critical readings and field,trips to further students’ understanding of their,visual voice and creative goals.

  • DPH-209 DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHIC METHODS II

    This course explores more advanced digital,workflows, from image-capture systems and pixel,manipulation software to professional image,delivery formats. Expressive possibilities of,digital photo-manipulation are emphasized, with,attention on both technical competency and,creative problem-solving. In addition, there is an,examination of the attributes and ethical,application of AI tools relating to image,generation and manipulation.

  • DPH-155 DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHIC METHODS I

    Students develop an understanding of introductory,digital photography as created through digital,cameras and relevant digital softwares. The,digital camera and its technical functionality is,taught as a tool for creativity, while best,practices in contemporary software is explored as,a means to organize digital workflow and,compliment digital images made in camera, as well,as compositing techniques for more complicated,imagery.

  • DPH-151 DARKROOM PHOTOGRAPHY I

    This course introduces students to the exciting,world of the darkroom and emphasizes creative,expression through black-and-white photography.,Students are taught a beginning understanding of,manual camera techniques and settings,,composition, and darkroom skills. Attention on the,interrelationship of subject, technique, and,intent is stressed while learning how to process,and print 35mm film.

    Through the College’s affiliation with the,Association of Independent Colleges of Art and,Design, junior or first-semester senior students,in good academic standing have the opportunity to,spend a semester (Fall or Winter) or full year,studying at another member institution in the,United States or abroad.
