    ,In this course students will learn to utilize 3D,design processes including 3D modeling, 3D,printing, laser cutting, and CNC milling for mold,making. Mold making processes will include but are,not limited to open face molds for high and low,temperature materials, 2 part and multi-part,molds, rubber molds, glove molds, castable resin,3D printing for investment casting, laser cutting,stackable molds, CNC milling direct molds. Other,topics covered will include surface smoothing and,finishing of 3D prints, material compatibilities,,burnout processes, and experimental casting.

  • DDG-272 3D PRINTING WITH CAD

    This course is an introduction to computer-aided,design for 3D printing. Students learn to 3D,model in Rhino, how to design for 3D printing,requirements, and how to prepare and support their,models for the 3D printer. Emphasis is on the,creation of designs intended for 3D printing and,addressing the requirements and limitations of,various printing technologies.

  • DCE-216 CERAMIC CHEMISTRY: CLAY GLAZE & FIRING,In Ceramics

    This course explores the chemistry of ceramics,,equipping students with a fundamental,understanding of materials and processes in,ceramic production. Students will learn to mix,slips, clays,,and glazes, gaining hands-on experience in,creating their own formulations. The curriculum,will cover,the properties and behaviors of various ceramic,materials and alternative firing techniques,,broadening,creative possibilities. By the end of the course,,students will gain greater autonomy in their,ceramic,practice, empowered to create tailored materials,that reflect their artistic vision.

    The focus of this course is functional and ,nonfunctional objects derived from expanding the,traditional interpretation of forms and creative,hybrids. Refinement in combining form with,surface treatments is also emphasized.

    In the advanced Wheelthrowing course, students are,encouraged to cultivate their distinct,artistic voice while refining their skills on the,wheel. Participants will enhance their technical,and,conceptual abilities by exploring alternative and,advanced techniques for altering, firing, and,glazing,their ceramic pieces. Additionally, students will,research and apply contemporary practices and,theories,related to Wheelthrowing, integrating this,knowledge into their creative process.

  • DDG-103 RAPID PROTOTYPING FOR STUDIO ARTS

    In this course students gain experience with rapid,prototyping and digital fabrication tools,including but not limited to laser cutting, FFF,(Fused Filament Fabrication) 3D printing, and CNC,machining. The course demonstrates how to utilize,software such as Illustrator and Rhino to create,unique design that can be quickly and efficiently,output onto various tools. Students explore the,application of the digital fabrication tools and,the benefits of rapid prototyping in their,practice.

  • DDG-253 TIME AND DIGITAL MEDIA

    In this course students are introduced to sound,,video, and performance as a means to examine,contemporary interdisciplinary studio practice. ,Individual and collaborative assignments explore,a range of themes and ideas that manifest through,an integration of traditional materials and,techniques with time and digital based media. ,Presentation, display, and documentation of work,is critically considered with-in the context of,performative, sight specific, time based, and,ephemeral work. Students will also gain knowledge,of the work of individual and collaborative,conptemporary artists who work between 2-D, 3-D,,and 4-D media.
