Health Insurance Requirement for International Students

Health services in the United States are very expensive. CCS requires that all international students enroll in the health insurance policy offered to students by Wellfleet through the college. All international students are automatically enrolled in this insurance program and their student accounts are billed. If you prefer alternative coverage, or already have coverage through a spouse or family member, you can submit a waiver form along with proof of your plan coverage to the International Student Services Office by email.

  • Waivers must be submitted by the drop/add course date for each academic semester with no exceptions in order to have Wellfleet costs refunded. The date for Fall 2020 is September 9th, 2020.
  • All J-1 Visa holders (exchange students) must enroll in the Wellfleet Plan, waivers are not accepted for this category.

The costs for the health insurance offered through CCS are valid for 12 months and begin each year on August 15th. The plan is Affordable Care Act compliant and uses Cigna PPO network. The ‘20-’21 cost is $1463.

We understand International Students have unique needs. Alternative coverage may be purchased from travel insurance companies including Patriot Exchange, and Lewermark. These plans may enroll dependents and have custom coverage choices. Contact ISSO or Wellness before purchasing a new plan as there are specific visa needs.
