CCS’s Speakers and Exhibitions program produces 8-10 major exhibitions and 7-8 major art and design lectures each year – all of which are completely free to attend and open to the public. It is well understood that investing in public, free arts programming enriches communities by offering opportunities for accessible arts experiences. Our galleries are sites for learning, inquiry, growth, discussion, and inspiration, as well as serving as spaces where community members can gather for opening receptions, artist talks, and gallery tours. Artistic expression that touches on topics of identity, sociopolitical issues, history, and emerging trends in art and design serves not only to educate the viewer, but to posit different ways of thinking, and to offer opportunities for ways that imagination and creativity can thrive in the communities in which we are placed.
The Speakers and Exhibitions program is hiring 2 work study Gallery Educators for the 2025-2026 academic year. The starting hourly rate is $14.15/hour. The job description can be found below.
Opening and closing duties – these will change for each exhibition but may include turning on lights, and turning on any electronic exhibition components as necessary.
Monitor artwork during open hours (T-S, 11am-5pm for Center Galleries; T-S 12-6pm for Valade Family Gallery). Three shifts will be available each week.
Greet visitors and engage them in conversation about the galleries and about the exhibition on display. Answer questions about the galleries and exhibitions.
Occasional shifts will be available for assisting at Woodward and Toyota Lecture Series events. This work would include greeting attendees and asking them to sign in for the event.
