As a Student Ambassador, it is your job to share your experiences at CCS. You will help inform students who are trying to make a decision on where they will be attending college, and about your own journey here. Such as what you have discovered since becoming a student as well as life as a whole in Detroit’s creative community. While leading prospective students and their families on tours of the campus, you will listen to their stories, make connections, and help them navigate their way towards a creative future and give them the info they need on the student perspective. As a part of our team you get the opportunity to work during admissions Open Houses and other events and meet hundreds of students whose shoes you once filled. You’ll be trained by fellow Student Ambassadors to be knowledgeable about all the opportunities CCS offers to students in any area of study. We offer competitive compensation for our work study students with flexible hours with potential opportunities to continue employment over breaks and the summer if desired.
We are especially looking for students who are interested in picking up six to twelve hours of work per month, without regular weekly hours, to assist with events and occasional coverage only. Ample paid opportunities for training and shadowing will be provided.
Student Ambassadors who are additionally offered office hours with admissions can also look forward to representing the face of CCS while working at the Admissions front desk, making phone calls to engage prospective students, reaching out to students via social media, and getting a sneak peak at new student merch when doing other organizational and clerical work around the office.
Duties and Responsibilities:– Lead tours for prospective students and families around the campus.
– Work Admissions Open Houses and lead groups of prospective students on tours while answering questions about CCS student life and experiences.
– Potential for office support in the admissions office, involving organizational and clerical duties such as; data entry, supporting the front desk by answering the phone, and assisting with mailing projects.
– With office hours anticipate supporting a variety of phone call campaigns to prospective students.
– Optionally participate in admissions social media campaigns.
Our team of students and friendly supervisors are seeking outgoing individuals who are excited about answering questions (including over the phone) and speaking in front of an audience. It’s also important that you are/have:
– Flexible and open minded to a variety of tasks and responsibilities.
– Strong communication skills in front of a broad range of people.
– Strong time management skills, comfortable working through Google Calendar
– Someone who works well in a team.
– Able to follow directions well
– Able to take initiative when needed
– Have a good sense of humor and can handle the occasional stressful or awkward situation
– Availability to work Saturday Open Houses, which occur a few times per semester.
– Must be at least your second semester as a student at CCS.
– Excited about CCS!
