Position: Wellness Peer Educator

Department: Student Life

Summary:

Wellness Peer Educators are work-study students that support the functions and initiatives of the Wellness & Counseling office at CCS. New hires will work up to five hours per week. Students report to the Health Outreach Manager, Emily Van Wormer.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan, implement, and assess programs that support well being such as mental health awareness, taking breaks and getting good sleep, fostering supportive relationships, and increasing physical activity.
Assist in outreach efforts including tabling, flyering, maintaining social media.
Develop digital and printed educational and promotional materials.
Collaborate with other student affairs work groups (Student Activities, Residence Life, Student Government), student organizations, and campus departments to put on joint programming throughout each semester.
Provide light administrative support (printing, organizing, unloading) for the Wellness + Counseling office, and special projects like the Food Pantry.
Work as a team with other students and participate in team meetings.
Assist with additional duties as assigned by Wellness / Student Affairs.

Qualifications:

Promotes healthy living behaviors and supports campus wellbeing.
Excellent interpersonal skills including public speaking, active listening, and the ability to explain and demonstrate complex concepts.
Is comfortable talking about sensitive topics like sexual health, disordered eating, violence and suicide prevention, and health equity.
Has a personal wellness journey. We welcome and encourage students with diverse experiences to apply.
Incoming Sophomores and Juniors preferred.

Requirements:

WPEs are expected to work at least 1 hour per week in the office, engage in at least one program or outreach activity per month, and attend scheduled team meetings.
Currently enrolled student in good academic standing.
Can handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
Able to work a varied schedule including some nights and weekends for special events.
