Position: International Student Ambassador
Department: International Student ServicesSummary:
International Student Ambassadors play an essential role in welcoming international students and helping them get settled at CCS. This includes assistance with common on and off campus resources, participation in campus events, and hands-on support during Global Engagement Office’s Orientation experiences. International Students Ambassadors will need to be available from August 20th to September 4th.
You will need a valid Social Security Number to be eligible for Work Study
Example schedule:
August 20 Training (approximately 6 hours)
August 21 & 22 Set Up (approximately 6 hours)
August 23 International Student Move In (may be “on-call”)
August 25 New Student Orientation – all new students (split into shifts covering 9am-5pm)
August 26 International Student Check In/Orientation,
DATE TBD Welcome Week/ Meet & Eat Resource Fair (split into shifts)
Daily duties will involve:
Setting up the Orientation Room including but not limited to: packing Welcome bags, leading campus tours, scanning and filing important Visa paperwork, assisting Global Engagement Office with planning and facilitating orientation
Receiving food deliveries
Assisting with the set-up and clean-up of breakfasts, lunches and other events
Planning, facilitating and participating in activities and events
Other responsibilities, as assigned
After Hours:
International Student Ambassadors are also asked to host new international students for social events. You will be reimbursed for the cost of your dinner, but you are responsible for choosing local restaurants, making reservations, and escorting your group of international students on the evening of the dinner to the restaurant and back to campus.
In addition to dinners, International Student Ambassadors may be required to assist in the organization of evening activities (such as bowling, board game night, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
● A helpful personality willing to problem solve a multitude of questions
● Experience in graphic design software or Canva
● Experience managing office communications and correspondence
● Experience and/or interest in events, planning and promotion
Required Qualifications
● Interest in working with international students. International students are encouraged to apply
● Ability to work with sensitive and confidential documents
● Strong attention to detail
● Computer proficiency in Google Drive, and Docs, Microsoft Suite, Social media including Instagram, College database software, etc.
