Position: Student Library Assistant

The CCS Library will be hiring three to four (2-3) Library Student Assistants for the Fall 2024 semester. We are currently seeking students with availability to work 3 to 9 hours per week for the duration of the semester with the potential to work evenings and weekend shifts. Prior library experience is not required, but customer service experience is preferred.
We’re looking for students who are passionate about providing the best possible experience for CCS Library users, enthusiastic about libraries, excited to build professional skills, have excellent customer service skills, and can work collaboratively with other students and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:Being the front face of the library and modeling excellent customer service practices
Cultivating a welcoming, inclusive environment for CCS community members and guests
Assisting patrons with finding and accessing library resources (books/eBooks, databases, journals, course reserves, etc.)
Answering basic questions and making proper referrals to library staff
Having knowledge of CCS Library resources and services
Checking in/out library materials
Shelving and locating library materials in the stacks
Scanning chapter and article requests for CCS & ILL patrons
Providing information about library and campus operations
Working on special projects, as needed
Responsible, organized and punctual
Excellent interpersonal skills including patience and the ability to help others
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Customer service experience is preferred
Prior library work experience is not required, but a basic understanding of the CCS Library and its services is ideal
Must be a current CCS student who is registered for classes to apply
Must complete a Student Employment Authorization to Hire form
Must be able to work effectively with a diverse student and faculty population
