Position: Work-Study Student Assistant

Department: Registration/Advising

Summary:

The Work-Study Student Assistant in the Registration/Advising Office will support the administrative functions of the office. This role involves assisting with maintenance of student records, providing general information on academic advising, student records and registration services, and supporting the overall operations of the office. The ideal candidate will be a motivated and detail-oriented student with strong communication and organizational skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administrative Tasks/Student Records: Assist with filing, sorting, photocopying, and preparing documents. Upload Imaging documents of student records. Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of all records. Ensure accuracy in maintenance of student records and the workspace is organized. Assist with office organization tasks.
• Front Desk Support: Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with diverse students, staff, faculty and administrative population. Answer general inquiries related to registration and advising services by phone and in-person to employees and visitors of the college.
• Advising Assistance: Appropriately direct students on appointment procedures and advising assistance. Understand the various enrollment populations assisted through the AARO; provide appropriate guidance and referrals.
• Records and Registration: Appropriately direct students, guests and alumni. Understand the various student populations assisted through AARO for records and registration services; provide appropriate guidance and referrals.
• Event Support: Help plan, execute and participate (as needed) in registration and advising events, such as orientation sessions and workshops.
• Communication/Marketing: Assist in drafting and distributing emails, flyers, notices, and other communication/promotional materials to students and staff.
• Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment: Must be a current registered student at College for Creative Studies, eligible for the work-study program.
• Skills:
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be Comfortable Communicating with AARO office staff on a regular basis, answering phones and greeting visitors.
• Computer experience required. Preferred in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, Adobe.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

Requirements:

• Experience: Previous office or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
• Attitude: Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to tasks.
• Professional Development: Gain hands-on experience in a professional office setting.
• Communication Skills: Enhance verbal and written communication skills through direct interaction with students and staff.
• Administrative Proficiency: Develop administrative and organizational skills.
• Customer Service: Improve ability to assist and engage with a diverse student population.
• Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with office staff and participate in team meetings and projects.
