Student Information
Audio Visual Centers
CCS has two Audio Visual Centers locations, one on the Ford campus (W109) and in the Taubman Center (T623). The AVC provides AV equipment for student projects/productions and classroom/faculty instruction.
Reservations for equipment can be made two weeks ahead of a desired pick up. Equipment reservations can be made by calling the Ford AVC at 313.664.7647, the Taubman AVC at 313.664.1501,or by email at avc@collegeforcreativestudies.edu.
Equipment can be checked out for up to 72 hours. Students may renew the checkout one time if the equipment is not already reserved during that extension period. Students are not allowed to check out the same type of equipment for longer than 6 consecutive days. This is to give as many students as possible an opportunity to use the equipment.
Faculty and Staff may reserve equipment for testing and use, however if a student needs the same reserved equipment for assignment or project completion, the Faculty or Staff reservation will be canceled. Faculty and staff may only check out equipment for 24 hours during active semesters.
Students, faculty, and staff are required to have their CCS ID badge present in order to check out studio spaces and equipment.
Students, faculty, and staff must sign a checkout agreement form in order to checkout equipment. If the checkout agreement and equipment are abused, check out privileges can be revoked indefinitely.
View the Audio Visual Center & CCS Studio Guide for detailed guide.
Prop and Costume Room
CCS has a prop and costume room on the Ford campus. The prop and costume room provides materials for student projects/productions and classroom/faculty instruction.
Reservations for materials can be made two weeks ahead of a desired pick up. Reservations can be made by calling the Prop and Costume Room at 313.664.7608 during office hours.
Materials can be checked out for up to 72 hours. Students may renew the checkout one time so long as the request is made before the scheduled return time. Students are not allowed to check out the same items for longer than 6 consecutive days. This is to give as many students as possible an opportunity to use the props and costumes.
Faculty and Staff may reserve materials for use, however if a student needs the same reserved materials for assignment or project completion, the Faculty or Staff reservation will be canceled.
Students, faculty, and staff are required to have their CCS ID badge present in order to check out props and costumes.
Students must sign a rental agreement form in order to check out materials. If the rental agreement and materials are abused, check out privileges can be revoked indefinitely
Late Fee Policy
If a student is late with equipment and until the equipment is returned, a PER HOUR, PER ITEM late fee, based on check out open hours, will be issued. See list in the AVC for fee rates. A student with an outstanding late fee will not be allowed to check out equipment from the AVC, MPC, or the Photo Checkout areas.
Methods of Payment
The AVC accepts credit card payments in the Audio Visual Centers for late fees or equipment fees. All outstanding AVC, Prop and Costume, and Photo fees must be paid in full in order to continue checking out equipment. Payments other than credit cards (check, cash, etc) must be paid in the Business Office. An invoice will be given to the student to present to the Business Office for alternative payments.
Decision Matrices at CCS
What is a Decision Matrix? A decision matrix is a simple, visual chart that outlines key decisions made in each College office, the stakeholders involved, and their roles in the decision-making process. View the AVS Decision Matrix.
