Professional service fees are in recognition of the variety of duties carried out by visiting artists, designers, and creatives (hereafter termed “Visiting Artist”) invited to College for Creative Studies (CCS).
In rare cases, CCS faculty/staff members may be selected to perform as a CCS Visiting Artist with the approval of the Academic Affairs Office. Any Visiting Artist payments offered for this labor are separate from payments related to administrative or teaching work at the College.
Professional Services Fees
Professional Services Fees are compensation provided to a Creative in exchange for services such as presentations, talks, workshops, consultations, jurying of work, and/or exhibition installation or deinstallation at CCS. Compensation for other activities may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis upon providing a rationale. The CCS Visiting Artist Fee Schedule provides minimum recommended fees, though a Creative may request or accept a higher fee if offered.
If the Visiting Artist is a new vendor, Business Services must approve them before any work can begin. Please complete the necessary new vendor form. Once approved, work may proceed. Once the Visiting Artist has completed their service at CCS, they are eligible for payment. In order for the Visiting Artist to receive payment please submit a Payment Requisition Form through DocuSign.

Securing Visiting Artist Funds
To secure Visiting Artist funds within the CCS Academic Affairs division, use the Development Request Form, which is available for faculty, staff, and program manager development opportunities. Your submission must include a concise two-to-three paragraph explanation detailing how the proposed experience will benefit the student experience.
Upon approval, the originating department is responsible for arranging travel and processing payment requisitions. All reimbursement forms must be submitted within 60 days of the event. In case of event or trip cancellation, immediate notification to the Academic Affairs office is required.
After the Visiting Artist has completed their engagement, the department is responsible for initiating payment. Any expenses exceeding the allocated budget must be charged to an alternate budget center or covered personally, as only approved expenses will be reimbursed by Academic Affairs, with receipts provided as necessary. If the visiting artist is not a CCS employee, departments should submit a Payment Requisition Form. If the Visiting Artist is a CCS employee, departments must use the “One Time Payment Form” available in the DocuSign templates.
Preparation fees
College for Creative Studies does not cover preparation fees. Preparation refers to work completed by a Creative outside of CCS’s premises. This may include tasks such as correspondence, phone calls, preparing support materials, framing, and overseeing packing and shipping arrangements, among other related activities.
