Transfer Credits – Graduate

CCS Graduate (MFA) Programs considers transfer credits for graduate-level courses previously taken at another college or university. Courses need to have been completed for credit and grade/score at a school accredited by an accrediting agency or state approval agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the international equivalent.

Transfer credits may be awarded for courses with a grade of B (3.0) or higher and completed within 10 years of the time of application. Any courses must meet the standards of the program’s master’s degree requirements in order to be considered for transfer.

Credit evaluations will be completed by the Director of Graduate Admissions in conjunction with the graduate chair and/or Dean of Graduate Studies at the time of evaluation. The transcripts submitted as part of the application will be reviewed and additional information may be requested prior to finalizing a decision. Individuals may be asked to provide course descriptions, syllabi, examples of coursework or other documentation. International applicants may be requested to submit additional documentation to determine a U.S. credit/semester hour equivalency or have their credentials of international credit hours evaluated by an official international credit evaluations service.

A limited number of credits are available for transfer in the Graduate Program. Nine (9) is the maximum number of credits allowed for transfer into the graduate program. Fifty-one (51) credits of required graduate courses must be taken at College for Creative Studies and not outside institutions.
