24-Hour Building Access Policy

3 AM Access

All CCS registered students have access to rooms designated by their department after hours until 3am. The floors of all buildings will be cleared of all students at 11pm, students who wish to remain on campus must go to the Campus Safety office to sign in. The floors will again be cleared of all students at 3am, senior students who wish to remain on campus must go back to the Campus Safety office to sign in after being verified to be on a senior list.
The two person rule is in affect after building hours, at least two students from an approved list must sign in to the same room to be allowed access. For safety and medical reasons, two people are required in an individual room after business hours.

24 Hour Lab Access

24 Hour access is granted to seniors (as defined by Academic Advising and Registration) or juniors enrolled in the departmentally designated senior level studio. Privileges will not be granted if a student doesn’t meet these criteria. The rooms made available to the students will be submitted to Campus Safety. Students will sign in with Security in the Campus Safety office, students must have their I.D. badge with them to sign in. Individual/special projects

When access is needed beyond building hours, and the need cannot be met by the 24-hour access room, approval must be obtained from the Dean of Students and agreed to by the Appropriate Director of Campus Safety, who is responsible for ensuring adequate security personnel are available. Notice must be given to Security at least one week (5 business days) before along with an approved list of student names.

24 Hour Computer Labs

There are designated 24-hour access spaces in the Kresge Ford building and the Taubman Center. After buildings close, all faculty members and authorized students entering the facility will be required to sign in with Campus Safety, at the Campus Safety office. All persons will be required to wear their CCS identification card on their outermost garment for identification purposes.

Holidays

A holiday is any recognized CCS holiday when there are no scheduled classes. Access to offices and non-shop classrooms for staff, technicians and full-time faculty with proper CCS identification will be permitted after signing in at the Campus Safety Office. No students will be granted access during holidays.
