The Blackboard Course Template

The CCS Course template is pre-loaded with online teaching necessities and has placeholders for the aspects of the template that you will want to customize. The template is designed to help you build a high-quality online learning experience quickly and efficiently.

  • Homepage – Consider the Homepage section, a place for the Syllabus, and core course elements to live. Perhaps you have an introductory video for the course. That video can live here along with other resources students may need to access regularly.
  • Course Content – Instead of a long list of navigation items in the main navigation, weekly breakdowns of your course content should live in Course Content.
  • Announcements – Communication with your students is key to keeping your students on track. Class announcements live under this navigation item. As the instructor, you can post communications with your class to Announcements and email them using the announcement function.
    • “How Do I Email My Students Using Announcements?”
  • My Grades – This link gives your students access to the progress in your class. By visiting My Grades, students can see the grades of posted assignments as well as access any feedback provided by the instructor.
  • Course Calendar – The Course Calendar link provides a calendar view of your assignment due dates. This calendar can also be synchronized with popular calendar applications such as Google Calendar and iCal.
  • Remote Learning Resources – This link directs users to the Teaching and Learning resources site. Uses can explore topics related to Blackboard, Zoom, and other services to assist with instruction accessing campus services.
  • Attendance Roster – Hidden from student view. This link take the instructor to the online attendance page in WebAdvisor.
  • Library Resources – Online content is available here for your course using established databases associated with the college.
