Description of Change

The updates expand the account management and content creation provisions to provide greater guidance to account managers and adds a new crisis management section. The policy is reorganized to better support its utilization.

Policy Statement

CCS Social Media Policy governs all official CCS social media accounts, as well as those initiated by departments and offices. It gives authority to CCS’s Marketing and Communications department to manage CCS’s social media presence and enforce provisions of this policy. It provides guidance for how these accounts may be created and managed, content created, and social media crises handled. Finally, the policy reinforces that social media content and account management must adhere to other CCS policies and community standards.

Reason for Policy

The revised Social Media Policy is needed to ensure that CCS’s social media presence, both through the main accounts and departmental ones, is a benefit to CCS’s community presence. The revisions help more employees effectively manage social media on behalf of the institution and provide greater clarity to students about CCS’s social media standards.
