Summary

The College for Creative Studies Library provides guest access to alumni and members of the local community. Guest patrons may request computer access to utilize the library’s databases, eBooks and other electronic resources. Guests may also utilize the physical collections within the library, these collections include books, periodicals, and reserves.

Computer Usage

Guest patrons have access to the library desktop computers. To access the computers, they will need to check-in with a staff member at the front desk. Library staff will then take the guest’s ID and log their name, the date, and the time. Guests will have a 3-hour time limit for using a computer workstation. Staff reserve the right to prioritize computer use to CCS students who are engaged in library instruction, class assignment work and research. Guests will be logged in to computers by Library staff for browsing and database use. Printing and copying are not available at this time.

Use of Physical Collections

All items are library use only for guest patrons. Guests have browsing access to library items in the open stacks area. Guests may also browse course reserve and some closed collection items, as well as some library equipment. Guests will need to check in with library staff members, and staff will ask for ID to be held while the item is in use.

The following items may be used in the library by guest patrons:

  • Disc drive
  • DVD check out
  • Course reserves 
  • Closed reserves (item dependent)

Alumni Borrowing Privileges

Alumni may check out books and DVDs from the general collection. Periodicals, materials, and reserves are library use only. The following borrowing rules apply:

  • Up to 5 Books may be checked out for a 2 week loan period. 
    • Overdue books will incur a fine of .20 cents per day.
  • Up to 3 DVDS may be checked out for a 1 week loan period.
    • Overdue DVDs will incur a fine of $1 per day.
  • Fines will cap at $15 per item and the fine must be paid before the patron may check out additional items.
