CCS Alcohol and Other Drug Policy Annual Review

As required by the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) and Part 86 of the Department of Education’s General Administrative Regulations, participating institutions of higher education must certify that they have developed and implemented a drug and alcohol abuse prevention program. The institution must distribute the information on an annual basis to all students, faculty, and staff and must make provisions to distribute it to students who enroll after the initial distribution and employees who are hired throughout the year. In addition, the institution must conduct a biennial review in order to measure the effectiveness of its program. CCS will be conducting this review on an annual basis in May.

Procedure:

During the month of May each year –
The VP for Enrollment and Student Services, Dean of Students, Director of the Wellness Center, and the Director or Assistant Director of Human Resources will meet to review the violations and referrals for the previous year. Based on the data and discussion, the team will determine if the College’s prevention strategies are effective or if additional strategies need to be adopted.

If necessary, this team will recommend changes to the CCS Alcohol and Other Drug Policy in the area of prevention.

There will be an agenda for this meeting and detailed notes to document the discussion.

The notes form this meeting will be made available to interested parties upon request.
