Supervisor Evaluation – Valerie Weiss

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

I prepared, present and punctual for staff meetings and student sessions/workshops. I’ve been engaged in different leadership roles and have taken on director oriented responsibilities (as needed in director’s absence).

I have a clear understanding of my job expectations. However, I’m always prepared to adapt to new roles and responsibilities as our department grows.

I’ve demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate with other colleagues and team members in an effort to support our students and the institution as a whole. I appreciate any feedback that results from these communications and use the information to further develop best practices.

Emotional IntelligenceSTRENGTH (4)

Learning to respond verses react has been something I continue to practice in both my personal and professional life. I continually try to think through the consequences that my choices and actions will have on others. As a result, I’ve been able to maintain healthy, interpersonal relationships.

Management AbilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

As the assistant director, I am learning more about management and may find myself in this role on occasion. If I’m managing a project, I tend to use a more democratic approach where everyone’s opinion matters and all feedback is welcome. However, I’m continuing to evolve in this area.

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

I am comfortable having conversations with my team and respect their input. My team is a dedicated and wonderful group of individuals. I encourage and support them whenever I can.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

As a clinician, I’ve been groomed to effectively respond to unexpected situations. Whether the shift is within our department or on a more macro scale, I feel that I’ve been able to demonstrate the ability to respond rapidly to change.
