Supervisor Evaluation – Valerie Weiss

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkSTRENGTH (4)

I exceed the responsibilities of my role, and take pride in that aspect. I would like to improve on my public speaking delivery, especially as that is increasingly more prevalent.

DependabilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

I deliver consistently, but could improve my punctuality.

Job KnowledgeLEADING (5)

I thoroughly enjoy pursuing continuing education, reinforcing the importance of health education on campus, finding ways to make the office more efficient, and providing timely programs and communication.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationDEMONSTRATING (3)

As i mentioned earlier, I want to improve on public speaking – better preparation and more precise content delivery. I feel like I am sometimes too casual or rambling.

Emotional IntelligenceSTRENGTH (4)

This is a strong point for me (and everyone in our office) but I think I can do even better this year by demonstrating some of the skills I’ve learned in motivational interviewing and empathetic listening.

Management AbilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

I am beginning to take leadership in events and committees, but I work more independently than in a leadership role.

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

I really enjoy the inter-departmental role that I hold, and how I connect with Student Engagement, Housing, International Services, Career Services, and Student Success to provide student wellness resources.

AgilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

I am flexible in my position and the different roles I hold, and enjoy that factor, however it can be difficult to keep a solid focus on one aspect when there are too many external distractions and I need to create a better structure for blocking time.

Goals

    1. I will produce one mental health related campus-wide activity each month.
    1. I will produce one physical health-related campus-wide activity each month.
    1. Students that attend these activities will be able to demonstrate increased content knowledge by utilizing ‘teach back’ and ‘check-in’ lessons.
    1. I will keep track of 80% ( or greater) of walk-in activity this academic year.

Accomplishments

    1. Integrated online technologies like calendar synching and Calendly for nurse practictioner’s office
    1. Extremely successful Sexpo! event, over 200 in attendance (in partnership with Student Activities)
    1. Advertised and implemented Walk-In hours for counseling.
    1. Improved resources, connections and awareness around foster-care support and food insecurity.

Comments

continue to advocate for the health educator role and provide opportunities to step into that role throughout campus as they come along!
