Supervisor Evaluation – Troy Uyematsu

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Score Comment
Quality of WorkSTRENGTH (4)

I think my work speaks for itself. I’m self-motivated and rarely need to be reminded of my tasks or responsibilities while at the same time find new responsibilities for myself.

DependabilitySTRENGTH (4)

I can be counted on to fulfill the requirements of my position and be flexible enough to adapt to changing responsibilities.

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

I could always know more, but given the wide-ranging scope of my current responsibilities I think I have demonstrated a strength in quickly learning or, at the very least, spending the time to research and find answers to support my work, (and the work of others, it seems) .

Interactive/Effective CommunicationDEMONSTRATING (3)

I could do a better job of communicating more of my workload to other people if other people were receptive enough to listen to it. I think I’m better at sharing information with my management team and end users, and welcome feedback when it is given, while not completely conceding my position.

Emotional IntelligenceDEMONSTRATING (3)

I admittedly can get a little “passionate” about my work which has a tendency to come off as being agitated or annoyed. I see that as a reflection of how much I care about the work coming out of my office. Ultimately I want to produce the best quality of support we can for our end users.

Management AbilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

N/A, At least not officially, but I could handle it.

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

I think I am team player. Despite working almost entirely independently, I am able to lend a hand or ask for help when necessary. Since moving to the Taubman I think that I built a solid bridge to the AT team that was lacking in the past.

AgilityLEADING (5)

The nature of this kind of work requires constant flexibility because things happen at a lightening pace. If I wasn’t effective at responding to changes, I’m not sure I should keep the position.

Goals

    1. In the next year I would like to take Cisco classes in hopes to eventually reach certification.
    1. Receive training on Active Directory administration as it relates to my job.
    1. Attend a conference for either Microsoft or Symantec Client Management.
    1. Continue leading with a forward-thinking approach to technology. Find new technologies or use our old technologies in new ways that benefits not only our Administrative users but the school at large.

Accomplishments

    1. Developing a Windows Server/Active Directory administrator mindset. With personnel changes in our department much this responsibility fell to me and I think I’ve excelled at it.
    1. Rolled out a patch management solution for Windows machines to boost security and decrease downtime.
    1. Rolled out new information monitor solution that is easier to mange and more cost effect that the previous solution.
    1. Reconfigured Symantec CMS to boost speed and performance of the infrastructure, while continuing to boost it’s effectiveness as an all-encompassing support tool.

Comments

Fully define my position within CCS. The developments in our department and the shifting nature of tech support at CCS over the last year have changed the nature of my day to day work. I need a position that reflects that increased responsibility, with support to implement some of my bigger ideals.
