Supervisor Evaluation – Tim Flattery

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkSTRENGTH (4)

It’s required for an instructor to be both self motivated and to be in almost constant evaluation of the teaching environment. I’ve very proud of the work I’ve done at CCS and continue to strive for an even better student experience.

DependabilitySTRENGTH (4)

I work hard to be reliable in all areas. I’ve always worked very hard in the classroom, and in more recent years I’ve worked hard to be timely on all emails and other contacts as well as responding to any situations that occur.

Job KnowledgeLEADING (5)

I’m happy to enjoy teaching what I’ve learned in the field, and am happy to have also set a leading direction for the animation direction for the last 19 years.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationSTRENGTH (4)

I think I’m quite good at sharing information, and especially enjoy helping others.

Emotional IntelligenceLEADING (5)

This is perhaps the most important aspect of being an instructor at CCS. Conflicts do occur, and claer communication and honestly become important.

Management AbilityLEADING (5)

In working with the other members of my department, I’ve been very fortunate to have a great working relationship where each of us is able to take the lead on different aspects as a team leader. As both an instructor and the owner of a small studio, I find these skills are always important.

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

I very much enjoy working with our team since everyone has great great strength in this area.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

I think I’ve been very adaptable though these many years. As the longest member of the department, I’ve worked with every chair adapting to their direction and needs.

Goals

    1. In each semester, to help students produce excellent work based on the requirements and level of each class
    1. To have a measurable improvement in the quality of a student’s work though the semester’s time-frame
    1. To continue the effort this year to establish both high presence and excellent feedback on social media for student work.
    1. To have excellent, measurable job placement for students graduating from the department

Accomplishments

    1. Worked with animation faculty to develop the revised curriculm and syllibus for new classes
    1. Ran a small animation and film restoration company; restored short animated films through the year.
    1. Animated on several commercials through the year.
    1. Worked on a personal film.

Comments

I think support of each faculty member and basic respect for each other, especially in front of students, is essential. They’re developing skills as well as their brains, and an honest difference of opinion, if intended outward for the student’s consumption, must be handled with professionalism.
