Supervisor Evaluation – Tanecia Nunlee

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkSTRENGTH (4)

I believe that I am professional, but also approachable. For example, I enjoy the challenge of responding to student inquiries in a timely manner. This is especially evident in responding to student emails and phone calls within 24 hours, which has been/continues to be a personal goal of mine.

DependabilitySTRENGTH (4)

I am happy to be the “go to” person for my supervisor when it comes to academic concerns. I believe that I can be relied upon to reconsider and carry out the processes by which our office interacts with other constituents on campus when it comes to this area of advising.

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

As an example, I attended and brought back ideas to our office from the NACADA conference. I also participate actively in our staff and advisor meetings.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationSTRENGTH (4)

I enjoy the exchange of ideas that our office engages in during our meetings. Furthermore, as an example, I led a discussion among advisors, re: the changing FERPA policy and our concerns, which I then brought back to our Registrar who provided helpful feedback/consideration of our concerns.

Emotional IntelligenceSTRENGTH (4)

I try to be aware of the effect my words and actions have upon the many constituents with whom I work, including my colleagues, supervisors, faculty, and students. I value a healthy work environment where we share ideas, questions, etc., and I strive to be a positive part of this environment.

Management AbilityEMERGENT (1)

N/A. This one is not applicable since I am not a manager. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the “ranking,” which defaulted to a number rather than a “blank,” so please ignore it.

TeamworkLEADING (5)

As an example, I have enjoyed being a part of the “revamping” of FYE, ensuring that there is good cooperation between the AARO and this program, so that new students have a positive experience in their first semester.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

I enjoy the fast-paced, ever-changing/improving environment in the AARO. As an example, I enjoy being tasked with doing and redoing the presentations for NSO as well as the introduction of the Student Planning system. I look forward to putting together any other new/emerging presentations as needed.

Goals

    1. Respond to student inquiries (emails and phone messages) within 24 hours (during the workweek), checking my responses to ensure that they follow the AARO mission to empower students.
    1. Refine my filing/organization practices by 1) using less paper; and 2) reviewing (i.e., refiling or recycling) paper files after each semester.
    1. Attend a professional conference (either NACADA or other recommended by my supervisor) in the next year in order to learn current (and best) advising practices.
    1. Assist Michael Coleman with creating, proposing, and introducing a new, theme-based FYE course for launch in Fall 2020.

Accomplishments

    1. I have learned the CCS policies as they relate to the AARO, so that I am able to explain them to students.
    1. I have assisted in editing presentations for NSO and for the Student Planning Info Sessions.
    1. Working with Obi, I have proposed an edit to the current Add/Drop form to help make the process clearer for both students and advisors.
    1. I have worked with Michael Coleman on redesigning aspects of the FYE course for Fall 2019.

Comments

I would like assistance with determining how/where to incorporate my role in FYE, so that it enhances (and to ensure it does not detract from) my responsibilities as a member of the AARO. My supervisor and I have spoken briefly about this partnership, but I would like to discuss if more fully.
