Supervisor Evaluation – Paul Snyder

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkLEADING (5)

From day to day activities to larger, more complex projects, I take initiative to provide fresh, efficient solutions to our department needs; reinventing grade book standardization process, consistent management of annual reviews, CIW financial report…

DependabilityLEADING (5)

I feel I carry my weight and then some to present the department as professionally as possible while carrying out communications with customers/allied departments. I show up daily with enthusiasm and interest in our team, our students and our department goals.

Job KnowledgeLEADING (5)

While entering my fifth year of employment/service to CCS and our dynamic department, I feel that I can field anything that is presented to me in my capacity and know where I can get assistance, if needed. I seek improvement in my/our work flow. Pushed for and received project management training.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationLEADING (5)

Strength in the area of interactive/effective communication is the cornerstone of how I am able to accomplish all other tasks in my DA role. I see my role as information gatherer, sorter and “disseminater”. I aim to communicate with integrity and always be open for growth.

Emotional IntelligenceSTRENGTH (4)

As mentioned above, I aim to communicate with integrity and always be open for growth. I bring my head and heart to my interaction with others and aim to be effective at listening, understanding, responding to needs and further, realizing when I am in the way of progress or understanding.

Management AbilitySTRENGTH (4)

I am not aware of an activity that I wholly manage. More so, I manage “portions” of activities in collaboration with our team and I sense I do so strongly. Department meetings, mentoring event and the like, I provide and secure the framework while our team provides the “content”.

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

The DA role is all about teamwork & I believe I embody the spirit of teamwork as a pivot point for the dept. We define what needs to be done, assign the tasks across the team by aptitude and generally, accomplish the activity as a whole much greater than the sum of the parts. EX: FR Cable Car Race.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

In TD, we are experts at anticipating & responding to change. We encounter change weekly, sometimes daily. I have been trained well by the nature of our work and work with constant change rather than caving to it. Any of our lg events would illustrate this: CIW, IDSEO, NAIAS, sponsored projects.

Goals

    1. Identify/outline/timeline the steps to completing all dept tasks, 52 and counting, (2 per week) by the end of the 2019-20 academic yr for purpose of improving workflow using project mgt techniques.
    1. Report department’s monthly spending on custom-made budget grid at the first faculty meeting of each month during 2019-20 academic year for the purpose of increasing spending transparency.
    1. Finalize and distribute Faculty Meeting Minutes within 48 hours of meeting during the 2019-20 academic year for the purpose of improving team communication.
    1. Complete “Catalog Year Student Charts” of currently enrolled students tracking studios, internships & job placement by semester through graduation to improve data reporting.

Accomplishments

    1. Goal 5: Spend 1 hour per week during 2019-20 academic year converting paper archives to digital archives until complete, all files labeled and organized.
    1. #1: Provided a case for evaluation of departmental cost of hosting CIW including a comprehensive financial report.
    1. #2: Prepared department for 12 week medical absence on my own time while working up to surgery date.

Comments

I would like regular feedback on my current role while aiming for the greatest proficiency in it and support for any other pertinent training activities as they are identified.
