Supervisor Evaluation – Michael Hill

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Sometimes changes in procedures causes confusion among staff, both in our office and externally. I think communication could improve in this area to help get everyone on the same page.

Goals

    1. Continue to work with troubled departments to ensure their compliance with rules and regulations over the next year.
    1. Streamline / digitize processes for payroll / status changes / (digital gold form), tuition vouchers, yearly increases, and any other clunky procedures in our office over the next year.
    1. Continue to expand knowledge of HR practices / laws / topics over the next year.

Accomplishments

    1. Established & implemented a process for on boarding & processing temporary employees (position request form) This, in turn, helped the process for onboarding FT and PT staff.
    1. Assisted in developing and solidifying polices and procedures for workstudy & sponsored projects
    1. Worked with Adademic affairs to develop & execute new adjunct course tally process / confirmation letters.
    1. Co lead on two Lunch N Learns – Work Study and New Hire Process and lead conversations with a handful of departments to educate them on HR procedures (World Tour)

Comments

Additional external training on HR topics is always welcome. Access to technology / IT support in creating more online forms & processes will help with the flow of information and streamline processes in our office.
