Supervisor Evaluation – Michael Hill

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Score Comment
Quality of Work STRENGTH (4)

When I am assigned a new task, I am able to take it on easily and efficiently, and really only need much guidance right when I first start to ensure that I’m doing the project correctly.

Dependability STRENGTH (4)

Any time off is requested well in advance and I am very rarely late or unexpectedly absent. I also am very serious about making sure that things that need to remain confidential do so.

Job Knowledge DEMONSTRATING (3)

When it comes to the things that are specifically within my job description, I understand and am able to conduct my job efficiently and adapt easily. Sometimes I waver when people ask HR questions that are above my level/I don’t interact with all the time, but I know who to go to to find the answers

Interactive/Effective Communication DEMONSTRATING (3)

I take effective communication very seriously and make it a point to follow up with people quickly, even if to just let them know that I’m looking for the answer to their question.

Emotional Intelligence DEMONSTRATING (3)

I try to be very kind and welcoming to everyone I interact with, and know that most people just want to feel that they’re being heard more than anything. Sometimes my anxiety flairs up and it makes me skittish about my own abilities, but I try not to let that affect my interactions with others.

Management Ability DEMONSTRATING (3)

I’m just going to go with a 3 on this one because while I’m not managing anyone, this question forces you to choose something instead of being able to leave it N/A.

Teamwork DEMONSTRATING (3)

I am very happy and willing to work with others, and if I have knowledge that others do not, I am excited about being able to share this or to help out however I can.

Agility DEMONSTRATING (3)

I am usually very good at processing change and have done a good job with navigating this, as there has been a lot of change here even just in the last year. If anything, it’s the things that refuse to change that I definitely have struggles with.

Goals

    1. Feeling comfortable taking on my new assignment of handling/distributing Tuition Vouchers.
    1. Learning more and growing in my role to support the new Equity & Inclusion director while also learning more in that field myself
    1. Become more confident using Colleague
    1. Find a way to create more space in the filing cabinets.

Accomplishments

    1. Made the process of reference checks more streamlined and efficent, and we’re able to turn around those for new hires much faster now
    1. I try to keep all of the paperwork pre-stocked so it’s ready for people who drop in who need it, instead of having to print everything off when they come in.
    1. Oftentimes I’ve already done something before I’m asked to do it, or have put processes in place so things are able to be executed quickly after they’re requested
    1. Assisted in editing the new staff handbook and have learned the system for adding new things to the online version of it.

Comments

Continuing to be open to answering questions and pressing the upper levels at CCS to get the technology that our school desperately needs in order for us to be able to do our jobs efficiently. Also more trainings would always be great!
