Supervisor Evaluation – Marcus Popiolek

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Score Comment
Quality of WorkLEADING (5)

If there is one thing I am confident of, it is the quality of work myself and the content team reporting to me puts out. It’s creative, clean, concise and well produced.

DependabilitySTRENGTH (4)

I believe I am extremely trustworthy, however there is always room for me to be more organized, which would make me more reliable.

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

When it comes to getting my work done and knowing what I need to do, I am fully confident in that. Yet, being this is my first year truly managing a team, I could definitely strengthen my one-on-one communications with each of the team members. I feel our bi-monthly group meetings are not enough.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationSTRENGTH (4)

As mentioned above, my communication with the content team as a group is consistent. However, I could use more one-on-one time with each member to better maintain an organized work flow.

Emotional IntelligenceLEADING (5)

I feel that this is one of my strongest assets. Beyond the ability to not overreact and having strong relationships with my colleagues, I believe I am a trusted person across campus.

Management AbilitySTRENGTH (4)

In my first year of true management, I believe I have created a strong and trusted environment for the content team. I hold bi-monthly meetings, encourage consistent brainstorming and motivate productivity. However, as mentioned about, there is room for me to improve my organizational skills.

TeamworkLEADING (5)

Encouraging team work and building trusted work relationships is one of my strong suits.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

In my roll, I am constantly multi-tasking and bouncing from one job to the next. I feel I do this fairly well, but again comes in my organizational skills, which is a something I am constantly looking to better.

Goals

    1. To develop more consistent and CCS-driven media. My plan is to use every piece of content created in-house by our team, and pitch them out to appropriate hometown papers, magazines, news outlets, etc.
    1. To further develop strong relationships between the marketing team and faculty members. I plan to maintain consistent office hours on both sites and work closely with DA’s and Chairs on content ideas.
    1. To increase the College’s brand presence by creating dynamic content that speaks to a wide audience, which I plan to do through the “World Without Art and Design” campaign.
    1. To deepen my knowledge in all things press relations. To further develop crucial relationships with key media stake holders and increase our media reach for 2019/20.

Accomplishments

    1. Secured two separate television appearances for Aki Choklat on Fox2 Detroit in 2019.
    1. Hosted CCS’s first ever press conference in conjunction with the Anna Sui Toyota Lecture Series. 11 members of the media came to see student work and interview Sui.
    1. Worked to build new media relations with regional members of the press both in person and through digital communications.
    1. Successfully galvanized the content team into producing more interesting and dynamic content: PSA Campaign, hugely increased social media presence, alumni stories, Watch Me Work, Work Studies, etc.
