Supervisor Evaluation – Laurie Evans

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkSTRENGTH (4)

I believe that my work ethic is strong. I pride myself on accomplishing task as required without direction or as directed as needed. I strive to lead by example in my daily interaction with my peers and students by displaying a positive attitude toward any circumstance.

DependabilityLEADING (5)

I always try to be available whenever I am needed. I often work outside my regular hours when needed and take on other responsibilities to better promote the College and help the students, faculty, and staff.

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

I am constantly researching to develop my technical skills in order to work with high level equipment, diagnose issues, perform repairs, consult, and help students and staff understand the equipment. Change is difficult to keep up with in this technical field but I try to stay on top of it.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationSTRENGTH (4)

My communication is open and honest. I listen more than I talk in order to better communicate the needs of the students, staff, and faculty to those who are better positioned to assist them.

Emotional IntelligenceSTRENGTH (4)

Part of leadership is leading by example. I am keenly aware that the work-study students and my staff watch me and take cues from my behavior which is why I strive to show calm and proper guidance in any situation. My work-studies continually ask themselves “what would Jerome do” in most situations.

Management AbilityLEADING (5)

I do not focus on creating good followers but instead, creating more good leaders by inspiring confidence in their decision-making skills. I do not micromanage situations. I mentor and give the flexibility for my staff to learn from their individual successes and failures on the job.

TeamworkLEADING (5)

I hold the team in high regard. I believe a strong team leads to positive outcomes but a strong team is only as capable as its willingness to be honest and transparent. I try to bring this philosophy to my direct reports by engaging in honest conversations that help build trust and character.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

In the academic environment, change is constant and I try to be as flexible as possible when an abrupt shift occurs. I believe its more efficient to flow with the current and make small corrections during a change than to fight against it, cause further disruptions, and get nowhere.
