Supervisor Evaluation – Kerri McKay

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

A work place is always changing, whether pertaining to staff, work place tools or requests from outside of the department, and I hope that I am always open to suggestions, criticism and new ideas. I strive to do my best in regards to an evolving work environment.

Goals

    1. Stay focussed on new sales, promotions and special events to keep student interest and enthusiasm concerning the bookstore. Provide a detailed calendar of events and promotions with visual appeal.
    1. Focus on growth areas such as our food and souvenir categories. Always stay open to new suggestions concerning student wants and requests.
    1. Improve and find new ways to communicate with faculty and students to ensure that the bookstore has the supplies and materials students need when they need them.
    1. Improve our online presence in creation of a new webstore and continue to improve social media and promotional marketing of the bookstore.

Accomplishments

    1. With the transition of our prior assistant manager leaving we had two team members changing their roles at the bookstore. This is a challenge but they continue to improve and grow in their new roles.
    1. We have created social media Instagram and Facebook accounts this year and continue to improve and develop communication and interest with the student population and community.
    1. I believe we continue to develop more interest in our CCS apparel and clothing options and have gained a lot of positive feedback from students concerning our new products.
    1. We have a new point of sales system with its own set of challenges and I hope that this will improve the CCS Boosktore and the customer experience.

Comments

I’ve appreciated the concrete recommendations and encouragement regarding store promotions and positive ideas to help improve store sales and experience. I have a goal of gaining greater student participation in regards to our marketing with student art and submissions for clothing and souvenirs.
