Supervisor Evaluation – Julie Hingelberg

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkSTRENGTH (4)

I like to think the quality of my work is strong overall. However, there have been a lot of changes over the past year, and I think my self-motivation has been negatively effected. I’m working on improving this area going forward.

DependabilitySTRENGTH (4)
Job KnowledgeLEADING (5)

I take pride in learning as much as possible about everything happening at CCS in order to be more effective in my own job.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationSTRENGTH (4)

I have strong communication skills and I think I am good at explaining things to people in a way that they are able to easily comprehend.

Emotional IntelligenceSTRENGTH (4)

I think I’m a person with a high level of emotional intelligence. But, I have worked at CCS for a long time, as have many others. I think that has made many of us overly comfortable and often we’re reactive rather than proactive. My goal is to work on this, avoiding assumptions & being thoughtful.

Management AbilitySTRENGTH (4)

Managing others is often the most challenging part of any position. Sometimes an employee’s personality can overshadow performance, and that can make being a good supervisor difficult.

TeamworkLEADING (5)

I think one of my greatest professional strengths is that I am able to work well and efficiently with all CCS constituents, from students, faculty and staff to industry professionals to Trustees. I try to foster a team-oriented environment where my staff can express thoughts and ideas and contribute

AgilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

This is an area where I think I’m doing well, but I need to work on being more flexible and open to change. It gets harder as one gets older.

Goals

    1. Evaluate and re-define career events to better align with industry needs and student skills.
    1. Increase the number of visits to companies, locally and nationally; work with Admissions, Alumni and Corporate Relations to strategically plan events around the US.
    1. Establish office outcomes and co-curricular assessment practices.
    1. Analyze current software & database uses in Career Services; produce strategy for updating and streamlining for staff and students.

Accomplishments

    1. Worked with Admissions, Corporate Relations and Alumni Relations to strengthen the relationship between CCS and its alumni, including starting an alumni lecture series.
    1. Worked with Academic Affairs to create a career event assessment tool that was rolled out at Industry Day 2019 and will be used at future events.
    1. Expanded my knowledge of financial practices and resources for artists; created new resource packet for distribution.
    1. Expanded Career Services events to include additional departments, as well as inviting a broader range of employers, resulting in an increase of the number of companies on campus.

Comments

You’ve always been a very supportive supervisor, showing confidence in my abilities and judgement. I feel that we have a good relationship with strong communication, and I hope that will continue.
