Supervisor Evaluation – Julie Hingelberg

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkSTRENGTH (4)

My goal is to continue to have an office that is very professional and helpful. I believe if I stay positive, my staff will be positive. This doesn’t always work, but its something I plan on continuing.

DependabilityLEADING (5)

Whenever called upon I pride myself in being able to deliver. I try and always do what’s best for the institution and not myself, which allows me to produce work that is up to the college’s standard.

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

After 16 years one would assume that I there isn’t anything left to learn. They would be wrong. In marketing and communication, change is constant and I find myself constantly learning and trying to get better.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationSTRENGTH (4)

I’ve gotten better over the years of engaging with others in positive conversations. there is still work to be done on my part, especially when it comes to dealing with negative individuals, but I continue to strive to get better.

Emotional IntelligenceDEMONSTRATING (3)

Not being the most “touchy/feely” person in the world, I continue to try and get better in this area. I don’t unload my negativity on others, but need to do a better job helping other people when they are struggling with work relationships.

Management AbilitySTRENGTH (4)

I like to think of myself as a good leader, but I still have room for improvement. Remember past decisions still is my weakness. I do provide a clear vision for what I want my area to accomplish and strive for. Every year I break down what we did well and what we need to improve upon and share it.

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

I have an open door policy and boy do people take care of it. I’ve found myself getting better at dealing with people upset and help them overcome what is bothering them. Tears no longer are my weakness as I know how to deal with someone who is so upset they cry.

AgilityLEADING (5)

There has never been a year where I thought we had it all figured out. Being in this department requires me to constantly change to what is happening on around the country, on campus and in my office. Change is our middle name.

Goals

    1. Increase awareness of CCS work with outside companies especially those that hire our students.
    1. Increase enrollment in MFA programs. This is a daunting task considering the environment, but it’s still something we need to improve on.
    1. Increase enrollment in all CE programs throughout the year. We’ve done a great job in the summer, but we need to mirror that success for the fall, winter and spring classes.
    1. Work with IA to increase donor relations and increase donor funding.

Accomplishments

    1. Solving the ADA web compliance issue was daunting, but with the right staff and outside help, I believe we’ve done a good job with this.
    1. I’m very happy with summer enrollment with CE classes. Our PCSE and youth programs are full and thriving, this is a very proud thing for me.
    1. Building a great staff of people and having the results play out for the year. Our organic traffic has increased significantly and our social presence is stellar.

Comments

After 16 years working with Julie continues to be one of the main reasons why I’m happy with my job. I enjoy your honesty and candor, what more can you do, just keep doing what you’re doing.
