Supervisor Evaluation – Julie Hingelberg

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkDEMONSTRATING (3)

Over the past year, I have had to learn new processes, procedures, while continuing my role supporting graduate admissions. Though there has been some bumps, I worked hard to provide outstanding support to applicants, my team, the graduate office and the CCS community.

DependabilitySTRENGTH (4)

I pride myself on being open, honest and transparent with all members of my team and the rest of the community. My colleagues know they can contact me if there are any questions, concern or they need support, whether I am onsite, traveling or out of office.

Job KnowledgeLEARNING (2)

Due to changes in my job responsibilities and uncertainty within the graduate programs, I have spent most of the past year learning new processes and procedures of the undergraduate admissions office, ISSO and ESS department as a whole.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationDEMONSTRATING (3)

Much of this year was spent learning and asking questions regarding processes/procedures of other offices within ESS. I make every attempt to communicate with all team members involved and follow-up as needed.

Emotional IntelligenceSTRENGTH (4)

Confusion and conflicts have arisen over the past year as many changes have taken place at the institution. I try extremely hard to be open and honest with my colleagues, listen, be supportive and work through things to make sure we all work towards a common goal.

Management AbilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

As a result of uncertainty within the grad. programs & expectations of the grad. admissions assistant, I feel that the clarity needed for that individual was missing. Much of the same occurred for international, as we were both learning at the same time.

TeamworkDEMONSTRATING (3)

As my role has become much more integrated with the admissions office and ESS division, I have worked to be an active member of both teams. Offering to help and support when needed and addressing issues/concerns when they occur.

AgilityDEMONSTRATING (3)

As noted in other comments, a lot has changed over the past year for myself, the admissions team and institute as a whole. Most of my time has been spent learning and thinking on my feet. Many times I identified or was informed of a problem and addressed it in a timely manner.

Goals

    1. Develop a graduate marketing campaign and applicant portal in TargetX
    1. Create a more robust marketing campaign and materials for international admissions
    1. Work with the new Dean of Graduate Studies to develop a recruitment plan for spring 2020 and beyond
    1. Finish integrating and matching graduate processes with undergraduate and the rest of ESS.

Accomplishments

    1. Recruited and enrolled two Fulbright scholars to our graduate programs
    1. Become more involved and participate in on-campus recruitment events
    1. Began to integrate the graduate admissions office into current Admissions and ESS processes
    1. Developed new recruitment materials for international applicants

Comments

Thank you for your support, understanding and working with me to figure out how to navigate this past year. Opportunities to be a part of committees have been helpful in developing my administrative/leadership skills.
