Supervisor Evaluation – Jill Davis

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkLEADING (5)

Since I was hired I have made a positive impact on the department though my organizational skills and dedication to GS. I have a strong work ethic and do every thing I can to make the department as successful as possible. I also have easily kept a positive attitude during difficult days.

DependabilityLEADING (5)

I have demonstrated my reliability through my willingness and ability to help all the Chairs with whatever it is that they need, sometimes simultaneously. I am very trustworthy. For example, the Chairs trusted me with moving the SEO projects and I always keep confidential information confidential.

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

I am aware of my responsibilities but we are still working out what is the DAs job and what is the Graduate Coordinators job so there is no overlap.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationLEADING (5)

I am open to criticism and feedback and strive to communicate effectively with everyone at CCS. For example, I have demonstrated strong communication during my conversations with the Chairs and learning what works best for each of them.

Emotional IntelligenceLEADING (5)

I remain professional and have not overreacted to a situation, but instead handle those times with care and thoughtfulness. I am aware of the importance of successful work relationships and strive to keep a positive office environment, for staff and students.

Management AbilitySTRENGTH (4)

I do my best to be as clear as possible with the students and they seem to be receptive to my directions and requests. I communicate effectively with the Chairs and assist Jill in coming up with solutions and compromises. I’m still learning though and continue to take notes from Jill.

TeamworkLEADING (5)

I have built a strong relationship with Jill and we work well together. I also work well with the Chairs, have showed them that they can trust me with tasks and am always willing to help.

AgilityLEADING (5)

In an educational setting there is always a lot of changes, such as classes, adjuncts, and even policies. I have shown that I can continue working with ease no matter how many changes are made.

Goals

    1. To re-do the shared drive’s organization and folders by the end of the Fall19.
    1. Finish making a list and desctiptions of GS procedures by the end of Fall19.
    1. Streamline the process of students’ paying for materials as soon as possible.
    1. Work with the Dean/Dept and create a more welcoming environment for the students. Such as having a fridge for commuters, a communal space, and having a used materials and supplies area.

Accomplishments

    1. I re-did the file system and created all new labeled folders for the Graduate Department to steamline the organization of all documents.
    1. I successfully worked with the Graduate Coordinator in setting up for SEO, putting together the All-Graduate Lunch, and the putting together the Thesis Select Presentation.
    1. I took a online seminar that highlighted travel. I then created and implemented a travel itinerary and that has been very sucessful and created a new organizational system for travel materials.
    1. As a new employee I sucessfully kept up with the demands and needs of working for 4 Chairs, where other DAs have one. I took on new challenges and kept the departments running as smooth as possisible.

Comments

Jill has been more very diligent in making sure I have a solid foundation to work from. She has continued to share her knowledge that she has learned over the past 9 years and I am grateful to receive the support and feedback. We’re already planning on discussing our roles so we streamline the dept.
