Supervisor Evaluation – Glen Morren

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkLEADING (5)

I consistently finish tasks assigned by my supervisor in a timely manner. I easily identify and complete relevant work needing to be done beyond just the projects delegated to me. The work I produce is thorough and reflects a firm commitment to the overall quality of service at the Bookstore.

DependabilityLEADING (5)

I can be counted on to show up for my shifts, be flexible with scheduling, and follow through on assigned tasks. I bring any issues to the attention of my supervisor immediately with all corresponding information readily available (e.g. register paperwork).

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

Though still adapting to our new Square / Dashboard system, I’ve prioritized learning how the new protocol impacts my role as a Bookstore employee (e.g. new ordering & receiving processes, register procedures). I recognize the importance of providing excellent customer service in my role.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationLEADING (5)

As mentioned above, I alert my supervisor to any potential issues immediately and provide clear information regarding the situation. I’m comfortable receiving direction and constructive feedback. When further clarity is needed, I promptly discuss my concerns with my supervisor.

Emotional IntelligenceLEADING (5)

I am keenly aware of how my behavior may affect the overall cohesion of the Bookstore staff and the customer’s experience in our store. I strive to treat others with kindness and empathy so that productivity may continuously increase and customers feel comfortable shopping with us.

Management AbilityLEADING (5)

N/A, I am not in a management position.

TeamworkLEADING (5)

I believe I can easily work in harmony with all members of the Bookstore staff, and Business Office when applicable (e.g. Inventory). I always address any concerns or difficult conversations respectfully and with a willingness to understand the other person’s perspective.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

I’ve consistently demonstrated that I am able to do my job well even as the store has changed to an entirely new POS system. Any external issues that may have impacted my job performance were brought to my manager’s attention so that a mutually beneficial solution could be found.

Goals

    1. Continue to identify new products which Bookstore customers may enjoy.
    1. Create resources that will contribute to the ease of daily tasks at the Bookstore.
    1. Work with my supervisor to create new displays which will drive sales (e.g. clearance section).
    1. Continue to improve the appearance (and appeal) of the store in collaboration with the rest of the Bookstore staff.

Accomplishments

    1. Contributed to the efficiency of the most recent Inventory.
    1. Adapted to the new Square / Dashboard system while identifying potential issues following the transition.
    1. Took on a fourth vendor (Leuchtturm1917 / Lighthouse Publications) in addition to the Electronics department.
    1. Reorganized the Leuchtturm products within the CounterPoint system, making it easier to identify which item was being ordered and sold.

Comments

Clear communication about changing policies, procedures, and tasks (e.g. Square), and a willingness to receive feedback about the sales associate position.
