Supervisor Evaluation – Dan Long

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Score Comment
Quality of Work DEMONSTRATING (3)

I think there are parts of this description I excel at and things I wish were better. I think I have a strong positive attitude, but I also like to work collaboratively. Sometimes I need the opinion of my peers to ensure I have the best product.

Dependability STRENGTH (4)

I believe that I am where I say I will be on time and happy to volunteer for things. If there is a deadline I wont meet, I reach out to the person to keep them updated on my status.

Job Knowledge DEMONSTRATING (3)

I believe I have a firm knowledge of CCS on the whole, but need to continue to grow in the housing community and understand housing on a national level rather then just our campus.

Interactive/Effective Communication STRENGTH (4)

I think I do this very well with the RA/RLC staff to ensure we have the best product. I am still working on my effective communication with other departments. Sometimes I forget who is affected by decisions and don’t communicate as I should.

Emotional Intelligence STRENGTH (4)

I think I have shown a lot of growth in this area since arriving on campus! I haven’t had any sizable departmental issues in some time nor parent issues going to Dan. I have worked hard on taking breathes and not responding with emotion. Always a learning process.

Management Ability DEMONSTRATING (3)

This is hard for me to evaluate. Ann and Becca are so excellent at their jobs it’s hard for me to determine how much I help them and how much they are independent.

Teamwork LEADING (5)

I believe this to be perhaps my greatest strength. I see myself as a cheerleader who is quick with the high fives and telling people they did a good job. It’s just as important as critical feedback.

Agility STRENGTH (4)

This is also something I see as a strength of mine. Housing gets thrown a lot of curve balls and adapting is very important.

Goals

    1. implementation of a first year housing experience
    1. rewrite our RA expectations to reflect our evaluation process

Accomplishments

    1. We re-wrote our housing information sheet so it connects with students where they are at. Much more user friendly and helpful.
    1. hired Rebecca. I’m proud she is here
    1. facilitated the purchase of brand new TC furniture for the entire housing side

Comments

I’m working to ensure I am continuing to grow in my role here. I don’t want to become stagnant. I believe I have the capacity to be an excellent housing director this institution can be proud of.
