Supervisor Evaluation – Christina DeRoos

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkLEADING (5)

I strive to produce high quality deliverables, even under high stress/heavy workloads. After 5 years at KAID, I have a good grasp on how to prioritize my workload, which helps me keep my quality level up. I aim to make improvements wherever I can along the way. I work well with minimal supervision.

DependabilityLEADING (5)

My team can count on me to get the work done & done right. I consistently meet deadlines and expectations. I can be trusted with confidential/sensitive information. I go above and beyond running work errands when necessary.

Job KnowledgeLEADING (5)

I understand my responsibilities as well as those of my coworkers. I possess a wealth of institutional knowledge, but am always open minded about evolving the program in meaningful ways. My role has been in flux for the past couple of years, so I am quite comfortable w/ changes in my job functions.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationLEADING (5)

I find all feedback constructive (esp. negative feedback) and seek it on nearly every project I touch, without taking it personally. I value the collaborative approach we take as a staff – it encourages us to interact consistently and builds feedback into the work flow without feeling forced.

Emotional IntelligenceLEADING (5)

I feel quite aware of how my energy impacts the team and how their energy can impact me. Although I rarely have conflict with coworkers, I recognize that conflict can build stronger relationships / isn’t inherently bad. Truthfully, I am conflict avoidant, but I do speak up when necessary.

Management AbilityLEADING (5)

I think I’ve improved my ability to delegate over the past year. I am able to articulate & assign tasks with ease, keeping in mind the skill and will of the person I am delegating to.

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

I like to think of myself as a team player. I tend to lift others up and prefer to offer compliments with my critiques. I do shy away from conflict and I recognize that this is a weak spot for me in regard to transparency. I offer and provide help to colleagues if they are overwhelmed.

AgilityLEADING (5)

I am able to think on my feet and adapt to situations with apparent ease, despite any anxiety I might be feeling. In times of high pressure, I can be counted on to follow through to the end maintaining a keen eye for detail along the way.

Goals

    1. Improve my comfort level with conflict; strive for transparency even when uncomfortable
    1. Increase my knowledge of the field; build in research/reading time at work
    1. Increase my attendance/physical presence at public art events; grow my professional network
    1. Keep my enthusiasm high & burnout level low; seek (or create) tasks I find engaging, valuable, & ideal for personal/professional growth

Accomplishments

    1. Increased my engagement, responsibilities, performance, and output in order to keep the program running smoothly in Ryan’s absence/while training Katie
    1. Persevered through a long & difficult office conflict / managerial experience & learned a lot!
    1. Vastly improved my knowledge of both Wordpress & Quickbooks
    1. Designed & implemented applicant feedback for the first time in KAID history

Comments

Professional development opportunities are always welcome. Design projects keep me motivated & enthusiastic. Regular work load and email inbox check-ins help to keep me on track in terms of time management. Mostly, just keep on modeling yourself as a great leader, supervisor, artist, & person!
