Supervisor Evaluation – Carla Gonzalez

It is the College’s goal to annually evaluate the performance of each employee. The purpose of the evaluation process is to provide an opportunity for the supervisor and employee to review the prior year’s work performance. This process should include conversations related to the strengths and weaknesses in your employee’s performance, the development of future objectives, and your support and encouragement in assisting them to reach their full potential. The evaluation process helps to promote better communication between you and your employee, allows your employee input, and enables attention to be focused on job performance standards.  As you communicate the performance appraisal, your employee needs to understand performance expectations and your employee should be provided the opportunity to respond and discuss any issues that may arise.  Feedback concerning job satisfaction, career goals, and position responsibility are encouraged during the appraisal and throughout the year.

Quality of WorkDEMONSTRATING (3)

Thankfully I have a benchmark for what Leading (5) should be, Amber exemplifies this. Taken lead working with Amber and AARO. Consistent with naming conventions and strive to push TCE’s through without delay. Manage hours to insure workflow is completed in a timely manner.

DependabilityLEADING (5)

I hope that my reaction time to requests whether it be from my supervisor regarding an assigned task or a student seeking advisement is responsive and thorough. I can be trusted to work independently and complete all deliverables before or when they are due without the need for follow up.

Job KnowledgeSTRENGTH (4)

I have a good understanding of process for completing Transfer Credit Evaluations with reasonable level of confidence and have contributed to refining the process that was going through a transition with moving from the old student information system to TargetX and to my role being new.

Interactive/Effective CommunicationSTRENGTH (4)

I feel I am meeting all the benchmarks for communication, engaging and contributing ideas. I invite questions if I am not understanding fully. I expressly try and share information when it’s relevant in order to resolve issues at hand.

Emotional IntelligenceLEADING (5)

It’s important to me to maintain a measured response in all situations always striving to be positive and calm even in situations that challenge me. I hope my maturity is what keeps me grounded and able to communicate with colleagues, parents and students with empathy and calm.

Management AbilityLEADING (5)

NA

TeamworkSTRENGTH (4)

I have huge respect for what each of us bring to our roles and often let my teammates know how they have positively impacted myself or others. I make myself available whenever I am called upon for assisting Amy with travel coverage or any other task that takes priority over my own workflow.

AgilitySTRENGTH (4)

I will drop a project and re-prioritize my workflow whenever called upon by senior staff members to work on a more pressing task. I hope I proved my agility when Amber had to be out of office for an extended period of time this year.

Goals

    1. Occasionally course placement opportunities are not as obvious to me as they should and I want to be more confident recognizing course match and competencies moving forward.
    1. Push myself to slow down (just a little) in an effort to not overlook details that might be missed in peak processing periods.
    1. Find the most effective ways to communicate with students to illicit a response in an effort to move them efficiently through the admissions funnel
    1. Becoming more indepentant and reliant on Amber, more confident in my decisons and my work requiring fewer corrections.

Accomplishments

    1. First year transition to a new position exceeding enrollment goals (so far barring melt) and reducing the process time sharing credit evaluations with students.
    1. dentTook on unexpected responsibility in Amber’s abscence which helped me become a tiny more independant and confident even upon her return
    1. Setting up a workflow that is adaptable to the differnet demands of the recruiting cycle and having a better idea for the calendar dates where demand is peak and managing expectations.
    1. Developing good working relationships with all constituents including my Supervisor, Amber and AARO (specifically Karen) as well as the Department Chairs

Comments

I feel I have come a long way having met considerable challenges in an unfamiliar role all in an effort to meet the learning curve for this first year, please just have patience as I adapt and further develop my job knowledge. Continued support when our Admissions goals are challenged by others.
