Make Rubric Sortable

Make Rubric Sortable

When you are working with rubrics in your course, you may discover that a rubric criterion row is not in the proper place.

Example: You want to move the fifth criterion to the top of the rubric so that it is the first criterion in the rubric.

CCS has an integration in Canvas called DesignPLUS from Cidi Labs. Part of this integration is a small tool that helps you re-order your criterion rows within your rubric. There are two ways to reorder your rubric rows with this tool:

Sort Via the Assignments Screen

In your Canvas course:

  1. In Course Navigation, click the Assignments link.
  2. Click on the name of an assignment that has an attached rubric.
  3. Click on the ✏️ pencil (Edit Rubric) icon.
    • If you get a prompt that you cannot edit the rubric, click the OK button.
This is a screenshot of the "Learning Outcome Rubric" attached to an assignment in the Canvas LMS. The rubric is presented as a table with three columns: "Criteria," "Ratings," and "Pts". It contains three criteria rows: "Criterion 1," "Criterion 2," and "Criterion 3". For each criterion, the ratings are "20 pts Full Marks" and "0 pts No Marks," with a total of 20 pts listed in the "Pts" column. In the top right corner of the rubric, there are three icons: a pencil for editing, a magnifying glass, and a trash can. A yellow circle with the number '3' highlights the pencil icon, indicating the edit function.
  1. Click on the Make Rubric Sortable button.
  2. Use the 🔼 and 🔽 arrow buttons to move criterion rows up and down within your rubric.

To the left of each criterion's name are up and down arrow buttons for reordering the rows, which are highlighted by yellow circles with the number '5'.
  1. Be sure to click the Update Rubric button after you have moved rubric rows around.
