The People page in a Canvas course is essentially the class roster. It’s a list that shows everyone enrolled in the course, including the instructor, TAs, and all fellow students.

For students, this page is primarily used to see who else is in the class, find classmates for study groups, and see which users are in which course groups.

For instructors, the page is a powerful tool for monitoring class engagement. While they cannot add new users, they can use it to see a student’s last login date and their total activity in the course. This helps them identify who is participating and who might be falling behind.
