AYTH-003 EXPRESSIVE DRAWING AGES 11-15

This class will expose the student to both,traditional and experimental drawing methods.,Materials used may include charcoal, pastels,,pencils, paints and collage. Class lectures are,augmented by a sketching field trip to the Detroit,Institute of Arts. Bring drawing paper and pencils,to the first class.

Students will work with Wacom tablets or Cintiqs,to create pictures that tell a story. Through a,series of hands-on assignments, students will,learn different digital paint techniques and,improve their drawing and rendering skills. ,Bring a flash drive to class.

Imagine a character. Does it walk on two legs or,four? Where does it live? What does it eat?,Invent your character’s backstory, sketch your,ideas, and create action figures out of clay. ,Section A will create a soft sculpture plush toy. ,Section B will 3D print their character.**

Students will develop a foundational,understanding of drawing. Working from still,lives, clothed models, architecture and nature,,young artists will develop and improve their,drawing skills. Techniques for creating shadow,,value and form will be introduced.
