THIS CLASS PROVIDES AN INTRODUCTION TO FLOOR LOOM,WEAVING. BASIC WEAVING PATTERNS AND TECHNIQUES,WILL BE COVERED AS STUDENTS LEARN HOW TO SET UP,AND WEAVE ON A FLOOR LOOM. IF TIME ALLOWS, THERE,WILL BE A PROJECT USING BLEACH OUT AND DYE,PAINTING.

Learn the craft of metal smithing while creating, wearable works of art. Beginners and more, experienced students will learn various, techniques including forming, riveting, and chain, making while experimenting with patinas and, finishes. Students may wish to purchase, additional supplies to create their work.

If you have ever wanted to design ,and print your own t-shirts, this class ,is for you. Students will learn screen ,printing on fabric using hand-cut stencils, ,color mixing with textile pigments, and ,exploration of motifs and pattern layouts.,Students will also explore poster making and,works on paper.

AVIS-155 SCULPTING THE HUMAN FIGURE

Working from a nude model, students will learn,traditional modeling techniques and undertake a,systematic study of figurative sculpture. Both,beginning and intermediate students will learn,how to translate what they see into three,dimensions through an emphasis on the proportions,of the human form and the dynamics that animate,it. Students younger than 18 must have parental,permission to take this course.

AVIS-150 SCULPTURE: CASTING IN THE FOUNDRY

Learn the materials, processes and techniques,used to produce finished cast-metal sculpture,safely, including the sprue system for ceramic,shell investment and resin-bonded sand casting,,metal finishing and patination. Both begininning,and more advanced students will cast their own,work. The cost for metals used is in addition to,the listed material fee.

AVIS-149 STONE CARVING

Students will be exposed to basic stone carving,techniques and multiple types of tools. Each,student will have the opportunity to turn a raw,stone into a polished sculpture. Students will be,free to create a sculpture of their own choosing,and encouraged to incorporate conceptual ideas,and expressive forms into their stones.
