Description of Change
1.) REMOVE the Advertising policy.
2.) Update the Communication Design & Strategy Policy to the language listed below.
3.) Update the department list on this Form. Remove Advertising. Remove Graphic Design. Add Communication Design & Strategy.
Policy Statement
Communication Design & Strategy
All student work is selected by review teams consisting of one full-time faculty member
and one adjunct faculty member during the student reviews at the end of each
academic year. The selection process is guided by the End-of-the-Year Student Review
forms, which serve as the rubric for assessing work against the department’s
established standards. These forms are designed to align with Institutional Learning
Outcomes (ILOs), Department Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), and Course
Learning Outcomes (CLOs).
Using a 3-point scale for consideration of submission to the student exhibition. The
department’s “Core Skills,” which are based on the PLOs and the benchmarks set for
each academic year, are the primary focus for assessing work for the show. During the
SEO installation week, student work is further evaluated, arranged, and curated by full-
time faculty. The goal is to reach a consensus during this curation phase. If a piece
does not meet the department’s standards, it will be edited or removed. Additionally,
pieces that were not initially selected during reviews may be added, but these must be
approved for inclusion by the Department Chair and at least two full-time faculty
members.
Reason for Policy
This has not been updated since the two departments merged, and we have adopted a 3-point scale.
