Policy Statement

Students needing to withdraw from any Precollege and Continuing Studies (PCS) course must call or email the PCS Office at 313.664.7456 or pcs@ccsdetroit.edu to formally withdraw from the course in order to be eligible for a refund.
Not attending a class does not constitute an official withdrawal from the course. No refunds will be granted after the terms of the refund policies detailed here.
Credit-bearing courses
Dual Enrollment Students
Students currently in high school are eligible to take up to three college courses as a dual-enrolled (DE) student at a discounted rate of $900. DE students must register through the Precollege and Continuing Studies office and courses to access this discounted rate. DE High school students enrolled in credit-bearing courses through the PCS program who need to withdraw from a course during the Fall and Winter semesters must contact the PCS office to formally withdraw from the course.

Withdrawal and any potential refunds for DE students will be issued with the same deadlines that apply for undergraduate students.
Gap Year Non-Matriculating Students
Students who have graduated from high school but who have not yet enrolled at a college/university are eligible to take up to two college courses as a non-matriculating student at the discounted rate of $900. Gap year students must register through the PCS office to access this discounted rate.

Summer Term
Youth and Teen Camps, Maker’s Weekend, and Adult Half Day Camps
Students who wish to withdraw from a Youth or Teen one week summer program, Adult Maker’s Weekend, and/or Adult Half Day Camp must contact the PCS office to formally withdraw from the course. Students who withdraw from a Youth or Teen class at least six days in advance of the first class will be granted a 100% refund. Students who withdraw 5 or less days before the first class will receive a refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. Cancellation on the first day of class will receive a refund minus a $75 cancellation fee. No refund is granted after the start of the second class session.

Reason for Policy

The policy has been adjusted so that adults taking the Maker’s Weekend or the Adult summer camp have the same refund policy as the Youth and Teen Summer camps. The cancellation fee will cover the cost of some of the prep work that goes into setting up courses.
