Policy Statement
Non-CCS students may participate in faculty-led programs if there is space available on the trip provided that the requirements below are met.
Any non-CCS registered student must first apply for admission as a guest or non degree seeking student. Once admitted to CCS, the student may then apply to participate in a faculty-led program only. Background checks may also be conducted as requested for any non-CCS student.
Inactive or alumni CCS students must apply as guest students and be accepted in order to participate in a faculty-led program.
All participants in any of the faculty-led program must pay all associated costs included in the specific trip information (travel costs, fees, participant charges, etc.). All participants, both currently registered CCS students and Guest students will be required to pay the tuition costs for the trip.
Program participants that require a companion as an American’s with Disabilities accommodation will need to first file for ADA Accommodations and receive approval from the Assistant Vice President of Campus Life at dlong@ccsdetroit.edu. ADA companions will be required to pay all travel and service fees related to the trip but will not be required to apply and register as a CCS Guest student.
Exceptions to these requirements due to extenuating circumstances require approval by the Director of Global Student Services and Support.
Reason for Policy
There is currently no policy about non-students participating in faculty led study abroad programs. This policy would establish cost structures and requirements to enable non-student participation in these programs.
