Policy Statement

CCS Professional Automotive Clay Modeling program consists of two courses which must be taken consecutively. “Clay Modeling 1” is only available in the Fall semester. “Clay Modeling 2” which is only available in the Winter semester. The courses take place in a dedicated classroom (T*1109) which is limited to 12 seats.

The twelve available seats are split evenly between non-matriculating certificate students (six seats) and degree seeking students (six seats.)

Certificate students must apply to the PAM clay modeling program by March 31st for the following fall semester. If there are six or less certificate student applications by March 31st, all certificate students will be accepted. If there are more than six students applying for the certificate seats, the Chair of Transportation Design and the course instructor will select the students based on their portfolios and applications. Surplus students will be put on a waitlist, ranked by the Chair of Transportation Design and course instructor.

Certificate registrations will be processed by the PCS office

CCS undergraduate and graduate students must be approved by the Chair of Transportation design to register for the class. The chair will contact the students’ academic advisor and the Precollege and Continuing Studies Director when a student has been accepted. Registrations for CCS degree seeking students will be processed by their academic advisor. Transportation Design students are strongly encouraged to take the PAM classes in their Senior year as a replacement for their senior Transportation Design studio requirements.

After April 15th, if there are seats available they will be made available on a first come first serve basis with approval from the Chair of Transportation design. An up-to-date tally will be facilitated by the PCS department.

Reason for Policy

There are only 12 seats available each year for the PAM clay modeling program. There has been some confusion regarding which students are selected into the program and what the approval process is.
