VDI Access for Students <\/h4><\/div>
\n

CCS offers a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) system that allows students to access a full Windows desktop environment with most CCS software installed. This system provides reliable performance and can be accessed from both on- and off-campus using a personal Mac or Windows device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students may still use locally installed software on their own computers where licensing permits, and software will continue to be available in on-campus labs for in-person use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accessing filr<\/h4><\/div>
\n

If you use the CCS Shared Drive to access shared documents you can still access those folders remotely using filr. It’s important to keep in mind there are two points of access depending on what physical campus you typically work from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you work on the Ford campus visit https:\/\/ford-filr.collegeforcreativestudies.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you work on the Taubman campus visit https:\/\/taub-filr.collegeforcreativestudies.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you log in, click the Net Folders link at the left side of the browser window to start navigating the folders to which you have access.<\/p>\n\n\n

Online Meetings with Zoom and Google<\/h4><\/div>

Google Meet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Meet is fully integrated with G Suite, so you can join meetings directly from a Calendar event or email invite. This is a very basic online meeting application that allows users to share their screen and and documents. Google Meet utilizes your computer’s built in camera and microphone to assist with collaboration. You can also create or join a meeting from your mobile device using the Google Meet application. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zoom is a conferencing tool that will allow you to present and share meetings online. Visit https:\/\/collegeforcreativestudies.zoom.us\/<\/a> to get started. Remember, you can also access this link in the CCS Access Manager. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: You can also set up a audio only meeting<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To host a meeting, Click the “Host a meeting” option on the home screen. You can determine if you want to host with your webcam video on or off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click “Sign in with Google” and enter your CCS login information. You will be asked to confirm you CCS account information and then be taken to a launch page to set up your meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n

Using Your CCS Phone<\/h4><\/div>

Set Up Alternate Outgoing Message<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During this emergency it is recommended that your outgoing message includes instructions on how to best reach you. You can set up an alternate greeting for calls while you are away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Dial in to your CCS extension <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Once the call is answered press *<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Enter your id (this is your phone\u2019s four digit extension) <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Enter you personal pin <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. For set up options, press 4<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Press 1 to change your greeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Activate your alternate greeting by pressing 2<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. When prompted, record a new greeting and activate the new greeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Pressing * will exit out of these setting<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Place a Conference Call<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    1. With a call in progress, press the Confrn<\/strong> softkey.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Dial the number\/extension of the third party you wish to add to the call.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. When the third party answers, press the Confrn<\/strong> softkey again to add this party to the conference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Repeat steps 1 \u2013 3 to add more callers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Check Voicemail From Outside<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. Dial your full number (Example: 313-xxx-xxxx)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Press \u2018*\u2019 when you hear the greeting
        a. Your ID is your Ext, followed by your pin.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Need to find a phone number of a CCS staff member? Visit the online phone directory<\/a>. Use the Phone Search section to look up a person by their first or last name or search for a department. If they have an entry in the CCS database, their number will be listed.
