There are three types of GA positions: Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), Graduate Research Assistant (GRA), and Graduate Student Assistant (GSA).

Summary of Purpose – Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)
The position of a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) is to provide a graduate student with an opportunity to extend his/her/their academic knowledge while cultivating a variety of pedagogical skills. The purpose of a GTA is to support and enhance the learning experience of students by complementing activities of the course instructor.
General Responsibilities – Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)
- The GTA reports directly to his/her/their supervisor.
- The GTA is expected to be prepared for his/her/their duties/job functions.
- The GTA must understand the course objectives and the learning strategies set for students.
- The GTA should make him/her/them self aware of the instructor’s teaching style, course management techniques, and personal ideology.
- Additionally, the GTA performs other duties as necessary.

Tutoring Figma & HTML
Classroom management / LMS
NOTE: This is the second CD interaction course, with the prerequisite being DGD263 Interface Design, which precedes it. In DGD263, students are introduced to interface essentials, basic, HTML and CSS and basic prototyping in Figma. This class expands on those skills with a new focus of mobile applications and audience based content.
Requirements – Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA)
- Completion of FERPA 101: Colleges & Universities Training within 1 month after starting position.
- Attendance and active participation in pedagogical round table trainings.
- A compassionate and positive attitude.
- A willingness to follow instructions and work in a supporting role.
- A demonstration of respect and cooperation with the course instructor (both inside and outside of the course).
- A possession of exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- A substantial understanding of the course subject.
- A knowledge base of the research process and the Modern Language Association (MLA) documentation style.
- An ability to multitask, work to meet course deadlines, and be adaptable to change.

USE OF AUTHORITY: It is essential to realize, decisions made by a GTA will have a significant effect on the final grades of students. Therefore, a GTA should carry out his/her/their responsibilities professionally, and not abuse authority. A GTA should evaluate student work accurately and objectively.
