Options for Importing Course Content<\/h2>\n
You have three options for importing previous course content: complete a Canvas Course Import Request, import all of a course\u2019s content, or select specific content to import (this is EdTech\u2019s suggested method).<\/span><\/p>\n You can submit a <\/span>Canvas Course Import Request<\/span><\/a> to have the<\/span> EdTech team <\/span>copy content into the new course for you. As part of this process, we will remove duplicate or outdated templated content, ensure a clean menu, verify links, and run accessibility checks. We will then share any recommended updates with you.<\/span><\/p>\n To begin the import process on your own, navigate to your Canvas <\/span>Dashboard<\/b> and select the course you want to import content into.<\/span><\/p>\n Click the\u00a0Import Existing Content\u00a0<\/strong>button on the right side of the screen.<\/p>\n Click into the dropdown menu under <\/span>Select Content Type<\/b>, and click <\/span>Copy a Canvas Course<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Select the course you will import content from under <\/span>Select a course<\/b>, or search for the course in the search bar.<\/span><\/p>\n Select the <\/span>Select specific content<\/b> radio button under <\/span>Content<\/b>, and click <\/span>+ Add to Import Queue<\/b>. <\/span><\/p>\n Under <\/span>Content imports<\/b>, click <\/span>Select content<\/b> next to the course from which you are importing.<\/span><\/p>\n In the popup window, select all of the content that you want to import into your course. You will likely not want to select things like Announcements and Calendar items from the previous course, as these will be out of date. Note that if you import specific Modules, every item in those modules will be imported into your course (Assignments, Pages, Files, etc.).<\/span><\/p>\n When you are done making selections, click the <\/span>Select content<\/b> button. The import will take up to a few minutes to run, and you can leave this page while it runs. When the import\u2019s status is marked as Complete, the import is finished.<\/span><\/p>\n To import content from multiple courses, repeat the process above for each course you are importing from.<\/span><\/p>\n Select the <\/span>All content<\/b> radio button under <\/span>Content<\/b>, and click + <\/span>Add to Import Queue<\/b>. The import will take up to a few minutes to run, and you can leave this page while it runs. When the import\u2019s status is marked as Complete, the import is finished.<\/span><\/p>\n Once your content is imported, remove any unnecessary or duplicative content, such as unused Modules, old Announcements, and old Calendar items.<\/p>\n After importing your course content, you will need to check your course for accuracy.
