More details about how to create Batches, how to create Quick Views, and how to add people to your Team will be described in separate guides linked within this page.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cidiscape is an administrative and reporting tool developed by Cidi Labs for institutions using the Canvas LMS (Learning Management System). It functions as a central dashboard, providing a &#8220;bird&#8217;s-eye view&#8221; of how other Cidi Labs products\u2014such as the course-design tool <strong>DesignPLUS<\/strong>, the accessibility scanner <strong>UDOIT<\/strong>, and the cleanup tool *<strong>TidyUP<\/strong>\u2014are being used across an institution&#8217;s courses. This allows administrators to track meaningful data on tool adoption, monitor accessibility progress, and understand the overall impact of their Cidi Labs software suite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>*At CCS, TidyUP is not integrated with Canvas. An institution&#8217;s goal is to ensure all active courses are using the new tool for consistency, better features, and streamlined maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What Cidiscape Shows on the Dashboard<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cidiscape is explicitly designed to track this transition, providing clear metrics for the entire migration process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New vs. Legacy Content Metric:<\/strong> The dashboard provides a critical comparative metric: the <strong>total number of content pages<\/strong> built using the <strong>New DesignPLUS Sidebar<\/strong> versus those using the <strong>Legacy Sidebar<\/strong>. This allows administrators to see the current state of adoption at a glance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Legacy Course Flag:<\/strong> Cidiscape can flag an entire course if a significant percentage of its DesignPLUS content was created using the Legacy tools. This creates a focused <strong>&#8220;Migration Priority List&#8221;<\/strong> of courses that need intervention or to be targeted for an automated content upgrade script (if available).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Power User Identification:<\/strong> By tracking which individual faculty members or sub-accounts have the highest percentage of content built with the <strong>New Sidebar<\/strong>, the institution can identify internal champions who can assist with peer training and mentoring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Content Modification Tracking:<\/strong> After training sessions on the new sidebar, Cidiscape can track the rate at which <strong>Legacy<\/strong> content is being <strong>modified<\/strong> and subsequently marked as <strong>New Sidebar<\/strong> content. They use the Cidi Labs <strong>UDOIT<\/strong> tool to scan Canvas courses for accessibility issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An administrator (or in the case of CCS, Department Chair and\/or Program Manager) can use <strong>Cidiscape<\/strong> to get a high-level report on this accessibility initiative across the entire campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cidiscape dashboard would allow them to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>See an aggregate report of <strong>all accessibility errors<\/strong> found by UDOIT, such as the total number of images missing <a href=\"https:\/\/webaim.org\/techniques\/alttext\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;alt text&#8221;<\/a> or the number of documents with low color contrast.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify which specific courses or departments have the <strong>highest number of accessibility issues<\/strong> that need to be fixed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Track progress over time by monitoring if the total number of &#8220;unfixed&#8221; errors is decreasing as instructors use UDOIT to make corrections.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, Cidiscape acts as the central command center for their accessibility efforts, helping them understand and identify accessibility concerns so that a plan can be developed on how to address those issues in the Canvas course.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"accessing-cidiscape-within-canvas\">Accessing Cidiscape within Canvas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log in to your Canvas account via the <a href=\"https:\/\/idp.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/nidp\/app\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CCS Access Manager<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the Canvas Dashboard, click on the <strong>Admin<\/strong> icon on the left-hand global navigation menu.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the slide-out menu that appears on the left side of your screen, select a sub-account (<strong>Example:<\/strong> FILM, LIBERAL ARTS, TRANSPORTATION DESIGN, etc.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find and click on the <strong>Cidiscape<\/strong> link on the left side of your screen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"270\" height=\"383\" src=\"http:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/53\/2025\/11\/Cidiscape_MenuLocation.png\" alt=\"A screenshot from the Admin section of the Canvas LMS shows two vertical navigation menus. Data from selected batches will display below the drop-down list. Refer to the yellow labeled letters in the below screenshot as you review these descriptions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol style=\"list-style-type:upper-alpha\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bulk Actions:<\/strong> After you place a checkmark in one or more checkboxes on the left-hand side of the table, four options become active: <strong>Sync LMS Data for # Courses<\/strong>, <strong>Scan # Courses with UDOIT<\/strong>, <strong>Sync\/Scan # Courses with all tools<\/strong>, and <strong>Export to CSV<\/strong>. The <strong>#<\/strong> sign will update to reflect an actual value based on the number of checkboxes you select.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>Search Courses&#8230;<\/strong> text box to search for things like Course Title, LMS Course ID, or SIS Course ID.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>Filter by Batch<\/strong> drop-down list to select the batch of courses you want to view.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Filters<\/strong> button allows you to apply specific filters to your course list to zero in on specific data. You can select from among Canvas, DesignPLUS, and UDOIT filters. And, you can apply mutiple filters to even further narrow down the results you need. (<strong>Example:<\/strong> Apply a filter that looks for courses that are published, have more than five students, and have a UDOIT accessibility score of 90% or higher.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>Manage Columns<\/strong> button to add\/remove table columns to suit your needs.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Note:<\/strong> Not all columns are immediately visible in the table that displays on the <strong>Courses<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Apply a Quick View<\/strong> drop-down list allows you to select or manage Quick Views. Quick Views are saved views that you have created via the <strong>Manage Columns<\/strong> button so that you can quickly select them at a later time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Information<\/strong> icon displays a slide-out menu that appears on the right side of the screen displaying <strong>Column Definitions<\/strong>.
