All course syllabi and Canvas Courses must be reviewed and approved each semester. Use the directions below to approve or reject syllabi in Simple Syllabus. You should also be prepared to review each instructor&#8217;s Canvas course while reviewing their syllabi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To jump to specific sections of this document, use the links below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#syllabi-due-dates-and-notification-schedule\">Syllabi Due Dates and Notification Schedule<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#log-in-to-simple-syllabus\">Log in to Simple Syllabus<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#review-approve-reject-a-syllabus\">Review, Approve, and\/or Reject a Syllabus<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#search-for-and-view-syllabi-for-all-ccs-courses\">Search for and View Syllabi for All CCS Courses<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"syllabi-due-dates-and-notification-schedule\">Syllabi Due Dates and Notification Schedule<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-advgb-infobox advgb-infobox-wrapper has-text-align-left advgb-infobox-ec908e54-2ec0-48fb-a129-17b2cd8feea3\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-wrap\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-container\"><div class=\"advgb-infobox-icon-inner-container\"><i class=\"material-icons-outlined\">date_range<\/i><\/div><\/div><div class=\"advgb-infobox-textcontent\"><h3 class=\"advgb-infobox-title\">Course Syllabi<\/h3><p class=\"advgb-infobox-text\">Course Syllabi are due for approval 7 days prior to the first day of the semester.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructors<\/strong> receive email notifications on the following timeline <em>until<\/em> their syllabi have been submitted and\/or approved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>14, 7 and 3 days prior to the due date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the due date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3, 7 and 14 days after the due date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>*If a syllabus is not submitted and approved, it will not be visible for students on the Canvas course. It is essential to push for all syllabi to be submitted and approved by the first day of class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Department Chairs<\/strong> receive email notifications when syllabi have been submitted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"log-in-to-simple-syllabus\">Log in to Simple Syllabus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Department Chairs and Program Managers can view submitted syllabi by logging in to Simple Syllabus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/collegeforcreativestudies.simplesyllabus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Simple Syllabus<\/a> website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use your CCS network credentials to log in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"review-approve-reject-a-syllabus\">Review, Approve, and\/or Reject a Syllabus<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once logged in, your Dashboard will display a Task List with 3 columns. Next to the name of each column, a number displays in a white circle of how many items are currently in that column. (<strong>Example:<\/strong> Not Ready &#8211; 5, To Do &#8211; 1, Completed &#8211; 0)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Not Ready:<\/strong> This column includes syllabi that are in process and have not been submitted for approval by the instructor. These syllabi cannot be accessed until submitted by the instructor. When submitted, they will be moved to the To Do column.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>To Do:<\/strong> This column contains syllabi that require the approver\u2019s attention.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Completed:<\/strong> This column contains syllabi that have been submitted and approved. As an approver, you are able to make changes to any editable components. Click into an editable component to make changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you or the instructor want to edit non-editable content, you will need to request assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) are set by the program Chair and provided in the syllabus to prospective instructors. To update CLOs, fill out the Academic Affairs <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-affairs\/form-change-to-existing-course-ctec\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Change to Existing Course (CTEC)<\/a> form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To edit course information (day\/time\/room changes) fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/academic-advising\/form-schedule-course-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Schedule Course Change<\/a> form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To edit any other non-editable content, create an <a href=\"https:\/\/campus.collegeforcreativestudies.edu\/ed-tech-help\/ed-tech-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ed Tech Support Ticket<\/a> or email <a href=\"mailto:edtech@ccsdetroit.edu\">edtech@ccsdetroit.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once these forms are submitted, there will be a short delay in the updates to your Simple Syllabus, as multiple parties will need to approve and update the information in Colleague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> Since assignments need to be created in Canvas before they populate to Simple Syllabus, approver&#8217;s should check both the instructor&#8217;s Canvas course and the Simple Syllabus at the same time. Use the following tools to verify all needed components on both the Canvas Course and syllabus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1z8nysYF9HzBawwseJ-ZHus5GgM3Rjr_O9rJOuTcFKec\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In-Person Course Checklist<\/a>: Use this for in person courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1EHDaEiYjktxLDB3UaTmZBYlIiFu78PZPwCCc9eaZEzg\/edit?gid=528224083#gid=528224083\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Online Course Review Rubric<\/a>: Use this for online or hybrid courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have completed the above checklist for the course (which includes details on what to check on Simple Syllabus), scroll to the bottom of the syllabus and click <strong>Approve<\/strong>. The instructor will receive an email notification and will be prompted to make additional edits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a rejected syllabus is resubmitted, it will again appear in the <strong>To Do<\/strong> list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"search-for-and-view-syllabi-for-all-ccs-courses\">Search For and View Syllabi for All CCS Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In some instances, a Department Chair or Project Manager may wish to search current or prior course syllabi.
